Depends upon to which parts you refer. Of course theI don't think it's history either. It seems to me it's poetry, law, identity, teaching narratives and borrowed myths.

Depends upon to which parts you refer. Of course the
book of Psalms is poetry----but the lineage of Abraham
is supposed to be a chronicle of that family's history
without being a contrived morality tale. In fact, it is,
clearly, NOT a morality tale which is an interesting break
from lots of other scriptural writings----or even English
novels. It is also not an account of a CULT FIGURE. For
a scriptural writing it includes a remarkable level of
character development, as intricate as those of some of
the Greek plays ----like the ORESTIA.
