Let's Talk.........I mean REALLY Talk.......

What a load of bullshit to direct attention away from Bush...
You Bush obsession is interesting, but a reasonable, less-than-a-partisan-nutjob, would see I'm blaming both sides for pushing their agendas with a result of steering our economy toward a cliff. To blame only one side is pure partisan bullshit. The difference between you and I is you want to blame "Booooosh!" and only Bush while, as I've repeatedly pointed out, there is plenty of blame for both sides starting in 1977.

Bush was in charge for seven years prior to the Great Bush Recession of 2008
He took credit for a booming economy fueled by a bogus housing bubble

Hard to avoid his responsibility

Yea, but you didn't believe him did you?

Bush neither significantly caused the mid-2000s bubble growth nor prevented the Great Recession that followed, but you can't discuss what is going on today without the context of what lead to it yesterday.

Agreed. Unfortunately the partisans only want to go back to November 2000 when the facts prove we need to at least go back to 1977 if not further.

LMAO! We were talking about economic collapse and how the free market forces business to accept their own risk and suffer the consequences of their own failures as opposed to idiot liberal socialism which makes all of society pay the consequences when GM fails or when the government forces banks to make loans to people that can't afford the loan.

What does any of that have to do with "dumping contaminants into rivers"?!? :cuckoo:
.

It has to do with business interest contradicting general interests of society. Something your politico theorizing severely discounts.

You want more examples? No problem:

There is only one reason this guy is behind bars and not a billionaire - government regulation. His pyramid scheme was prospering just fine until a regulator caught a whiff of something rotten about Maddof's returns and now that asshole is in jail for Securities Fraud, Investment Advisory Fraud, Mail Fraud and Wire Fraud...you know, all them government laws regulating bussiness.

Nooooo....it has to do with your inability to make a rational case for your irrational position. The free market is essentially redundancy. Any one business fails and the rest of the economy keeps on going. Government is single point of failure. When their policies create a housing bubble - the entire economy implodes. And that is why e free market is flawless. Yes, individuals entities will fail. But the entire market system itself will only improve as those failed business go by the wayside and the better businesses now assume the failed businesses customers.

I see waste and malfeasance with our tax dollars.
For example 100 billion a year is collected in various taxes and fees that are supposed to be earmarked for infrastructure upkeep

tell me where the fuck does all that money go?

Keeping up the infrastructure, dumbass. The problem is, 100 billion isn't enough to cover the needs.

Is some of that money wasted on a big Red State with no people in it and a Senator who sits on an influential committee? Yup. But the real problem is we are looking at infrastructure that was largely built back in the 1950's and it's all crumbling now. Mostly because we had leaders who think it's more important to give tax breaks to rich people and fight wars in the Middle East.

We spend plenty on infrastructure. Much of it is misplaced. For instance, in Kansas City government officials want to blow up our perfectly functional airport and build a new one on top of it for a billion dollars. At the same time most of the water infrastructure that was built in the 40's is crumbling and the water is disgusting. Cost for repairs is about a billion. They are pushing for the new airport and don't give two shits about the poor families in the inner city.

So because the government is inefficient and wasteful, we should let our roads deteriorate and our bridges collapse. Government is always inefficient and wasteful and that will never change.

When did I say any of the crap you posted? Making up shit is no way to debate a topic.

leave your partisan bullshit at the door.....forget the left versus right paradigm. I want to know how you really feel about the direction of this country in the last 36 years and how you feel it has gotten better, gotten worse. Leave your political affiliations at the door explain what you see is happening and why.........most of us remember the Nixon and Carter days. We have seen the change.........

My personal believe is that we are in serious trouble and I am talking about the kind of trouble that will make the orchestrated crash of 1929 seem tame by comparison....wanna talk me off the ledge? Please do so.....
Dear Dale Smith
Despite mass abuses of both media and political party interests , I sense that America is heading toward more direct representation by using these two systems as tools: the open access to media to organize resources and democratize representation in groups, the use of party structures from precinct to national levels for organizing ppl by party and per issue or area of expertise, and also the use of the school and campus systems to organize districts to be sustainable and self governed. Even the failing prison and mental health systems can be revamped as medical programs to provide public health care and preventative education and outreach.

So the very systems that are failing, from public schools housing and prisons to the corporate hijacked media and party politics, are the very key to democratically reorganizing representation and resources by party.

If we can manage 50 sovereign states under one law of the land, why not organize 7-10 parties each recognizing their sovereignty over their own members.

Our corporate "gubermint" is a "for profit" venture. If there isn't money to be made for their cronies, it's not going to get done. If it's not going to turn a profit (like toll roads) it's not going to be built. We have rolling black outs because our electrical grids haven't been updated/upgraded in decades.

Please read my post again. A certain level of spending is necessary. How it is spent matters. Remember shovel ready projects? In the KC case, the wealthy get a shiny new airport and the poor living off an archaic water system are getting the shaft. Run by democrats for decades.

That's how government works sometimes. The federal government has a stake in your airport because it's involved in interstate commerce. Your water system on the other hand is strictly local. Unless the federal government is taking on the task of rebuilding local water systems, then no federal funds.

The Airport rebuild is coming from local funds, which is why I am interested in the outcome. The FAA refused to participate beyond their current commitment for maintenance of runways. They can blow up the airport and rebuild it or provide high quality drinking water to their residents. They can't afford both. A large portion of the stimulus bill was supposed to go to infrastructure. Instead much of it was gambled away on startups that ultimately failed.

Of the 787 billion dollar stimulus bill, a relatively small portion went to startups, about 4 or 5 billion. It probably seems a lot more because the largest failed and Republicans made a lot noise over it. 105 billion when to infrastructure, mostly transportation.
