I am going to explain where the GOP goes wrong, and what it can do to fix it. The last couple of days have provided an excellent case study which demonstrates the principles I am going to address.

As everyone knows, in 2008 or so, Obama began telling people that under his health reform plan, "If you like your insurance, you can keep it."

As time wore on, people began doubting this, so Obama became more emphatic. "You'll be able to keep it. Period."

By 2012, Obama most likely knew this was a lie. Yet he kept repeating it to reassure people so he could get their votes for re-election.

All right. Here is a case where we have Obama absolutely nailed to the wall. We got him dead to rights. No wiggle room in that "period". None.

But what does the Right do? They begin telling even bigger lies.

First, "16 million will have their insurance cancelled." Maybe. Maybe.

But now there is a lie created by a former Romney campaign flak going around that 93 million will have their insurance cancelled. At the very utterance of such a preposterous lie, you would think people would immediately recognize this is one of the most stupid lies ever told. But lo and behold, there are rubes who not only believe it, they are parroting it!

This is an even bigger lie than "46 million uninsured Americans".

This is where the Right fucks up. Right when they have Obama nailed to the wall, they decide to start telling bigger whoppers than he does!

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory used to be the Left's forte. This is now the Right's strength.

Whining and pessimism was also what hippies were about.

Today, the Right has assumed the mantle of end-of-the-world doomsday freaks.

Folks, when some nutjob keeps predicting the end of the world every other week, and his end of the world deadlines keep coming and going, pretty soon even his most die hard followers start to catch on he is full of shit.

At first, just a few hangers on slip away. But then more and more of the crowd begins to drift off. Eventually, all that is left are the most crazed of the bunch who are immune to sanity the way some bacteria that acquire immunities to antibiotics.

Like my sig says, "Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one."

Note to GOP: Stop being bigger liars than the opposition, and stop making constant Armageddon predictions.

Right and left.

Yes, there is a lying competition between Right and Left.

Too bad. The Right used to be about superior ideas. Now it is about being scarier than the Left. Trying to scare people into joining their death cult instead of creating a shining city on the hill.

A conservative used to be the smartest person in the room. Today, the faux conservatives are the most gullible. If a lie is told that paints a really, really ugly picture, they believe it. No fact checking, just parroting.
