Gold has value because to find gold you basically need a 1,000 years of combined talent to hunt for it and discover it and then you need $billions in capital to extract it from the earth.

And the reality here is that government cannot make a 'digital currency' that equates to bitcoin as the real value there is there is no trusted verifier of transactions for bitcoin to work. Without that go between, regulation is impossible and what warren and the other government types want is no different than the dollar which is already a digital currency.

The defining feature of 'digital currency' really is not the fact it is not physical, it is the fact that the currency is its own verifier.

You have no idea what creates value. That it must be mined controls the supply and that is what creates the vale here, limited supply and willingness to use.

Both of which are present in bitcoin.

The only reason that bitcoin will not overtake traditional sources of currency has nothing to do with the uselessness of its creation method, which is no different than the vapid way dollars are created, but rather because the chain will never be as easy and cheap to use as current government backed monetary systems.

And there is no way governments will allow it to become that easy.

Not to mention that a workable quantum computer will negate 100 percent of the value of bitcoin the day after it is viable and available to the public.
