Long forgotten songs

I would submit that if you can find an online video of a song ... it is not, by definition, forgotten.

I think the OP meant forgotten by mainstream music. Or perhaps the younger generations.

I have a perfect story to illustrate that.

Back when CMT was relatively new, my young son (around 6 or 7 years old at the time) discovered it. He was a big fan of Randy Travis, garth Brooks, George Strait and other stars of that time. The CMT music awards were on one night, and he wanted to watch. So he and I were watching the show. And they gave Loretta Lynn a Lifetime Achievement Award. He looked confused. He then asked me "Dad, why are they giving an award to the Crisco lady?". He had no idea who Loretta Lynn was. I remedied that. But it shows how great songs can fall by the wayside.

Today I had a song stuck in my head, as I often do.

So I went down the rabbit-hole that is YouTube.

I had forgotten how much I enjoyed hearing Gladys Knight and the Pips.

Continuing the soul music trend:

Minnie Riperton had a 4 octave range, including the "Whistle Register". Few can sing in the heights she could reach.

Not only did Gladys Knight sing like an Angel, she looked like one also...

All that I can think about are songs that were most likely never well-known enough to begin with in the first place.

God bless you always!!!
