For the third time in US history, Conservative Republicans are engaging in a petulant power play against a Liberal Democratic President.

For the first time in American History, the Conservative Republicans are using the Debt Ceiling as a means to defund a law they don't like.

Markets are reeling..

Then obama should not veto the proposed budget. Then there will be no shutdown. Reid should pass it and obama should sign it.

Republicans shouldn't make crazy demands and put the bill the Senate sent them to a vote

Don't be ridiculous.

Why should he cave?

The Affordable Care Act was passed by a democratically elected Congress, signed by a democratically elected president, and upheld by the Supreme Court.

U.S. voters had a chance to get rid of it in an election. Instead they voted to keep it because the democrats won and the republicans lost.

It's called democracy.

Shutting down the government, just because they didn't get their way on 1 law is tyrannical.

~ The republicans are acting like 2 year old's having a tantrum on the floor for not getting their way. As soon as they realize its bullshit they will find something else to cry about and try to hang it on Obama.

This is the first time in history this is being done.

Caving in to radicals creates a precedent.

That's not good for either side of the aisle.

People are loosing money on their investments in the stock market. Others will be negativly effected when gov't services shut down. Others who have not been paying attention will suddenly have to pay attention. The blame will go to the House Republicans who refuse to have a clean vote without special agenda riders on the bill. American's don't like complicated excuse's. Most like logic and pragmatism. Get the job done. Wach how Republicans become hated and loathed.

They think this will somehow get them back into the good graces of the American people.

It won't.

In case you missed it, winning the White House does not win the debate.

Legislation starts in the Congress. The GOP has won more elections in Congress than the Democrats.

Its called democracy. The Presidency is NOT the only office that matters in a government that HAS three co-equal branches of government.

2 things.

First off Republicans have not defunded anything under Obama nor have they shut down Government under Obama. Republicans did as Obama did when he was in the Senate, they took a stand on not upping the debt ceiling but caved as usual.

Secondly, the markets taking a hit is further prof that the economy is in the shitter, without mass welfare everyone knows this country will head into a depression, where it belongs so that it can clear the 2 trillion a year malinvestment deficits Obama has been running.

It never ceases to amaze me how incredibly dishonest dimocraps are. Top to bottom, inisde and out -- Corrupt and dishonest...

Here's a funny for the day --

Tea Party Rep. Raul Labrador Reminds Chris Matthews His Former Boss Tip O’Neill Helped Shut Down Government 12 Times

Via Newsbusters:

Chris Matthews has a new book out about his former boss the late Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill.

Despite this, the MSNBC host was made a fool of on Sunday’s Meet the Press by Tea Party Congressman Raul Labrador (R-Id.) concerning how many times the government was shut down when O’Neill ruled the House:

DEE DEE MYERS, FORMER CLINTON PRESS SECRETARY: So what’s the endgame, though, Congressman? Are you willing to vote for– a continued resolution that comes back that does not delay or de-fund ObamaCare?

REP. RAUL LABRADOR (R-IDAHO): I am not. But I think there’s enough people in the Republican Party who are willing to do that. And I think that’s what you’re going to see.

DEE DEE MYERS: But would you–

REP. RAUL LABRADOR: Our first request was to completely def– de-fund the program. And we knew we were going to lose on that. Now we’re asking for a delay, which, again, I don’t think is an unreasonable thing to do. You know, your boss, Tip O’Neil, shut down the government 12 different times. And you didn’t call him a terrorist.

And what DOESN'T have a fucking adverse effect on the market? Obama could have a bad golf game and the market would react.

So after passing through both houses, being signed by the President, surviving all sorts of court challenges, THEN being settled in the Supreme Court...

The House, for the first time in the History of the United States, can capriciously decide to kill a law via funding?

That's never been done before.

And along with the filibuster and all sorts of congressional nonsense, will add another layer of complexity to government.

This probably won't work. But be careful what you wish for..

I said the same exact thing when you folks were happy about the Patriot Act passing. :eusa_shifty:

Yeah, watch what happens when the Feds stop propping up the markets with billions per month.. you ain't seen nothing yet!

The Act was passed solely by democrats without a single republican vote.

The public elected Democratic majorities (and a supermajority) in both chambers and elected a democratic president. What were they supposed to do? Sit around and wait for the next election because it wasn't fair to GOPers?

Yup. Once they stop pumping all that unbacked money into the system get ready for inflation big time. Carters 70's will begin to look PDG.

Oh yeah and wait till they find out the only people the ACA is going to be affordable for are those that we taxpayers will be forced to subsidize.

At that time a Republican vote wasn't needed.
