This has never been done before in America for a simple reason: It is unconstitutional."

So what does that look like to the average working American, that is working each day to cover their bills? Let's make it easy....Say a family of 4 making $80K a year, with a mortgage, and a car payment.....They pay now about $20K a year in taxes to the federal government, what would their increase be?

Well, right now the deficit is about 1/4 of what we are spending roughly. In FY-19 we spent 4.4 trillion and added a bit over a trillion to the debt. So, they would to from 20k to 25k. Rough numbers of course, but around there.

What do you see as the ramifications to the economy in that world?

There would be a bad time for a while, but in the long run we would be better off.

You could achieve the same results with spending freezes and the penny plan.

Would just take longer and there is no reason to freeze when you can cut.

Who I voted for is irrelavant, as much so as who YOU voted for....Our individual representitives don't work in a bubble...Plus, this isn't about me....

What's anti-American is the billionaire-class hoarding wealth and buying tax loopholes so that entitlements go bankrupt, and their wealth keeps growing. I favor the top tax rate being ~7% higher than before the last tax cut, the VAT (Fed sales tax of ~3%), and taxing all income as earned income. I do not favor the wealth tax on "net worth", unless its only on the top 1%. Does Bloomberg really need all $53b? I don't think so.
