Medicare for all would save $450 billion and 68,000 lives every year.

There's nothing wrong with our current healthcare system except that it is too expense for most people. There are a number of fixes to Obamacare that could be made which lower premiums, deductibles, and copays.

Obamacare was a LIE, worse yet - a 'Trojan Horse'. Harry Reid stated right after Barry and the Democrats rammed the Socialist agenda minority-backed POS down the throats of the majority of Americans who did NOT want it that Obamcare was DESIGNED TO FAIL. He admitted it was a forced stepping stone meant to heard Americans towards single payer. Think of a bridge made of stepping stones, and after you step onto it each previous brick you moved across falls to the depths below - the option of going back eliminated.

This SHOULD not have come as a surprise t anyone - a video exists of Barry telling a crowd while campaigning that he wanted single payer.; of course, Barry was never actually 'vetted'. Instead, the media kept telling people that nothing in his past mattered.

Barry knew people would rebel at the time if he pulled a stunt like the 2020 class of Dems are doing, openly declaring THEY will make criminals of Americans who own their own private health insurance by outlawing privately owned policies.
-- WELCOME TO COMMUNISM: THE GOVT WANTS FULL CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE IN A CERTAIN AREA (AT 1ST BEFORE EVERY AREA) SO THEY OUTLAW / MAKE ILLEGAL PRIVATE OWNERSHIP OF ALTERNATIVE PRODUCTS / PRACTICES.

Part of my fear - a proven legitimate fear - is the ignorance / lack of common sense of so many Americans, willing to gullibly believe anything the Democrats / politicians....to put it bluntly, DAMN....Jonathon Gruber was SO right about SO many people being 'stupid'. Case in point, when Barry declared Obamacare would not cost a dime and would pay for itself, there is not one person on the face of this earth that should NOT have declared in one loud voice, "BULLSHIT!" There has never been, in the course of human history, a government program - any government - that has ever NOT cost anything or paid for itself. Sometimes you read a post or hear the 1st words out of someone's mouth, and it is such a blatant lie you just can't get past it and stop listening to anything else they say. 'It won't cost a dime and will pay for itself' was one of those.

EVERY single Democrat running for President in 2020 has already done the same thing regarding 'Medicare for All'.

1. 'Medicare For All' is a GOVERNMENT SOLUTION for a GOVERNMENT-CREATED PROBLEM....the government is great at doing that.

2. 'I have a plan' is always followed by 'I have a solution for that', and that 'solution' ALWAYS includes giving the government that created the problem more power and / or the government that created the problem SEIZING more power and freedom from the people they are supposed to SERVE.

All anyone should have to hear about the 2020 Democrats 'Medicare For All' is that their plan is to OUTLAW - MAKE ILLEGAL - PRIVATE US CITIZEN CHOICE / FREEDOM TO PURCHASE A PRODUCT THAT BENEFITS THEM AND THEIR FAMILY AND FORCES CITIZENS ONTO A GOVERNMENT-RUN, GOVERNMENT-ENFORCED SYSTEM THAT CONTROLS A LARGE PART OF RUNNING YOUR LIFE.

AT THIS POINT YOUR LIFE IS NOT YOUR OWN BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO CONTROL AND CAN NOT MAKE PERSONAL CHOICES ABOUT YOUR LIFE.

.
So you support a ridiculously overpriced GOP scam non system where everybody takes their chances? Great job dimwit.

Ask 110 million employees if they are willing to give up their health care plans. After you've convinced then get back to us.
Healthcare won't change, and by the way, it shouldn't be the employers
responsibility to provide it in the first place, other than injury-on-the-job compensation.

Works great in every other modern country where results are better and costs are about 50 to 60% of what they are here.

Common sense tells me that you aren't accounting for random injuries, etc., and ignoring the fact that you cannot paint people with a broad brush. Many times as has been seen, reality trumps short sightedness.
Yeah that's what the emergency room is for by and large, injuries, pregnancies, heart attacks and strokes , not for patients with chronic and preventable things.

Nationally, 56%, or roughly 67 million visits, are potentially avoidable. Reducing this trend represents a signicant opportunity to improve quality and lower costs in health care. Reducing the overuse of emergency rooms will improve the care received by both urgent and non-urgent patients while cutting overall healthcare costs by billions of dollars each year.

The Consequences of Emergency Department Overuse

No one can possibly know this.
Common sense tells me it would work.
Do you realize how much it would save for people to
have regular check ups which would prevent most of the illnesses that
lead to ER visits ? That alone would likely save $200 billion every year.
Common sense tells us that gubmint fucks up everything that they touch.

It's hard to agree with Bernie and the Democrats on many things these days, but universal healthcare and eliminating the health insurance racket has always been one I've been on board with.

Bernie Sanders’ Medicare-for-All plan would save the country about $450 billion a year on total health care spending while preventing nearly 70,000 deaths, according to a study published over the weekend in The Lancet.

In the analysis, a team of epidemiologists led by Alison P. Galvani of the Yale School of Public Health applied the provisions of Sanders’ plan to real-world spending in the U.S. in 2017. They concluded that Medicare for All would have cost just over $3 trillion that year, or $458 billion less than the actual total. The analysis found that per capita costs would decline, resulting in lower costs overall, even with millions more people covered. And providing universal coverage would save 68,531 lives per year, the researchers.

A voice of reason from the true left....my friend Lee Camp.

Is that why Canadians and Europeans come here for healthcare when their government gives it to them for FREE?

So you support a ridiculously overpriced GOP scam non system where everybody takes their chances? Great job dimwit.
I did not say that - YOU did. Stick to speaking for yourself because you $UCK at trying to speak for me, lil' snowflake,

I call bullshit....Medicare costs in excess of 10X what it was projected -counting inflation- when it was set forth...This boondoggle will be no different....In fact, I defy anyone to cite the first time a gubmint program came in under budget and delivered a superior product.
They purposefully jack up the costs with spiking drug prices, expensive equipment in elderly care--every way they can to cook the books up.

Bottom line is --- get rid of the insurance middle man- over a 10 year transition, increase good health awareness and diet, focus on prevention rather than medication and unnecessary surgery....a comprehensive restructuring of the whole system .

Sure. And while you’re at why don’t you end racism.

If healthcare is free, many people will be less focused on prevention. How many people would bother changing the oil in their car if somebody else paid for any repairs due to lack of oil?

Dream on!

Please list the name of an American what died because they could not afford insulin.

You can buy enough insulin for an entire year, for just $300. That's one pay check working full time for McDonald's as a burger flipper.

You people make up so much crap.....
Its up to $350 per bottle.

Not many actually die from lack of insulin. Its mostly other problems like taking less than need, or using expired insulin, etc.

The only question I have is why you or anyone else believes those statistics? I for one would rather believe in the tooth fairy. We all know that the tooth fairy is not real, but the effect of the tooth fairy is very real. We know what to expect from the tooth fairy. We have no idea what to expect from the gov., except failures.

And they are raising income tax to pay for it

Outsourcing of tax rose in 2014 among respondents in Canada (37%, up from 31%).
The higher income tax would be far less than the outrageous deductibles and hidden costs in the current insurance coverage system. That's the basic idea. But I'm suggesting other ways to pay for it aside from primarily income tax, like financial transaction, sales tax, etc...even nationalizing resources and /or profit margins, based on the GDP.

This is basically a mafia-like shakedown by the big insurance giants and their big pharma Wall Street friends.

Do we have Nabisco Diabetes Treatment and RJ Reynolds Cancer Treatment Centers yet ?

Everyone of those suggestions of yours COSTS ALL OF US MUCH MORE FOR HEALTHCARE...whether we use healthcare or not!

Common sense and most of all experience .

Every time government gets more involved with healthcare, the cost goes up, the quality goes down, and the American taxpayer gets soaked far more than promised.

Just raise taxes to pay for it ..... always the left's answer.

My response = why not try tax and SPENDING CUTS like we did in the 1990s, the last time the US was "solvent."

It was government involvent and healthcare insurance that broke and made healthcare the out of control beast it is today. The only real way to fix the healthcare mess is to get government all the way to hell out of it and make selling healthcare insurance illegal for the scam and the con game it really is. Take the bottomless pockets out of the equation and costs will soon return to earth due to natural market forces. We need to eliminate all the middlemen who bring nothing but extra cost, waste and corruption that all must be paid for by we the people.

Healthcare needs the free markets. Post prices online. Unions, churches, corporations etc. can pool together by promoting healthy lifestyles.

Free Americans should not be paying for the healthcare of the 400 pounder going to McDonald's to eat fat and sugar galore every day.

Make the individual responsible.

No, because the current system of prepaying to for profit insurance companies that add tons of paperwork and skim off profits, costs over twice as much.
Clearly Medicare for all would cost less than HALF as much.
The rest of the world proves we are paying more than twice what we should, as well as being ranked 39th, with TERRIBLE health care quality.

That's always the promise, that the left wingers in da government are totally honest wonderful people who would never lie, cheat, or steal, or play preferences with actual care.....

but, in reality, that's what left wing government "workers" do, they lie steal cheat and discriminate, and we are better off with the private sector because of that.

Although I am a socialist, you do have some good points.
For example, it is true we could afford health care after the fact, until the IRS allowed employer tax deductions for benefits like health insurance in 1957.
And it was that 3rd party payer and prepaying that screwed it all up.
