I know what you mean but the Kennedy's really had relatively less spending money than people think. Rose Kennedy was extremely frugal, stingy even. She would use the neighbor's pool to save on maintenance costs for their own. They lived on other people's money. They had political capital.

It was one reason Jackie was so interested in the old man Onasis. His daughter was so pissed at her for spending so much of his (her) money.

The Obamas have and spend their own money.

As I recall that was the criticism of Nancy. But at the time I thought the criticism was unfair. Nancy never got a dime. Why should she pay any tax?
