Oh look, another failed dem state.

“It’s not good for anyone, and we look at the temporary solution of mobilizing National Guard resources as a positive step, even if it’s, you know, just a stopgap temporary measure,” Hartland said. “Because you know this, this problem has persisted for quite some time.”

Hartland says the National Guard could help in the short-term. But he says state lawmakers need to take steps to permanently reduce prison populations.

In a statement, the Michigan Department of Corrections acknowledged it has faced staffing challenges in some of its communities, requiring staff to work high levels of both voluntary and mandated overtime.

Having the national guard come in absent a natural disaster or major event is the sign of a failed state government.

Blah....I’ve been through having to work mandatory OT in VDOC.....16hr days were the norm.....And they even tried fucking us out of that with "comp time" till they got their dick slapped if federal court.

Nobody wants to address the elephant in the room that few want to work a high stress and relatively low wage job.....Those just starting out in MDOC (the bulk of their employees) only make 42K a year.

Or they could stop locking people up for petty offenses. That would be a help.
Or they could start hanging violent murderers, rapists, and robbers (and pedos) expeditiously and then there's
plenty of room in the prisons for those that should be there, (for "petty" offenses) and less violent assholes to fuck up their time.
But you're a dipshit idiot, so fuck you! :fu:

Executions are a waste of money. You can lock up 10 people for life for what it costs to execute one person

I usually don't do links...

But.

So (if true) it's mostly legal expenses......That right there should tell the sane that our legal system is fucked-up.

Even then it's "only" 2.5 million more per convict....Not the 10X you stated.

BULLSHIT YOU FUCKING RETARD!

I could execute you for about 8 cents, you stupid sumbitch.

8 cents ain't locking no people up and feeding them for life and providing them babysitters for the rest of their natural lives.

This is total bullshit.

1 .22 round, and you're done. Hanging costs a little more, but it's the way to go, and do it publicly

as a deterrent to those that might be thinking about doing the same.

Oh, I agree.

So far, 195 people have been exonerated after being sent to death row, and another 22 were executed, where we later found serious doubts about their guilt.

In IL, we ended up releasing more people from Death Row than we executed before the REPUBLICAN governor decided to commute all death sentences to life in prison because no one could tell him with absolute certainty that they might not be exonerated in the future.

So we spend millions of dollars retesting and reviewing evidence to make sure that some Public Defender who was overworked or drunk didn't land his innocent client on death row by mistake. (The Truly guilty ones are smart enough to take plea deals!)

Okay, how many innocent people are you willing to execute to satisfy your murder boner?

The reason why reviews are so expensive is that no one wants to accidentally execute an innocent person.

It isn't murder if they've taken lives or molested kids or violently robbed and raped people. It's justice.

There's zero reason they should be allowed to live out their natural lives, behind bars or not.

Behind bars is a ginormous drain on taxpayers, and adds bloat to all the judges and lawyers and everything.

You are avoiding the point.

Let's try again. How many innocent people are you willing to execute to satisfy your murder boner?

Because you will inevitably convict innocent people of horrific crimes. 195 Death Row inmates have been exonerated since executions resumed in 1976.

There's DNA now, fuck you! :fu:

Better a few innocents lose than way more than that go free or keep living as leeches on society.

How many innocent people in Michigan are executed?

The trouble with "life without parole" is that future dems will commute their sentences making them eligible for parole when they should have died for their crime.

Oh look, it's MI.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Thursday granted five clemency requests, including sentence reductions for two people serving life terms for murder.

I doubt you'd feel that way if you or someone you cared about was one of those "innocents".

DNA is left behind in less than 10% of murders.

While DNA does have the power to tell us a lot about people and crime scenes, it is not always available. DNA evidence is most likely to be left behind in violent crimes but only available in a small percentage of even these cases. Attackers leave behind DNA evidence in less than 10% of murders.

This means that in many cases of wrongful conviction (such as a shooting where no physical evidence is left behind), there may not be DNA evidence to test. Additionally, the ability to perform DNA testing on evidence relies on evidence being preserved (requirements for how long evidence must be preserved varies) and findable in law enforcement facilities. So preventing wrongful convictions by all means possible in the first case is so important because DNA will not be the key to justice for all innocent people.
