misgivings about the stormy danials trial

Not arguing the guilty plea, he went to prison for the tax violations. No one has gone to prison for exceeding campaign contribution limits.

Well no one isnā€™t true. Itā€™s 2 of the criminal convictions Cohen went to prison for.

this crime involves a violation of campaign finance law, and could be used by media to explain these obscure laws to the public and perhaps call for their wider enforcement and if necessary, modification or strengthening.

but i think we know that is not going to happen. the one thing that no politician or lobbyist or media inc that runs campaign ads does not want to happen is actual application of these laws to them.

no. from a cable news standpoint this trial will be a parade of playmates and porn stars. if they are dressed frumpy for court, not to worry, there is plenty of video out there showing every square millimeter of stormy danials and (tastefully edited i'm sure) it will be running 24/7 during the trial.

do you really expect these girls to dress frumpy?

but this trial, unfortunately, is not about the girls, it is about the money.
She recanted in writing.

The scumbag lying and convicted-felon now disbarred former attorney to be brought as a witness by the persecutor for paying Stormy for an NDA (on behalf of Trump) will also be eaten alive due to contradictions. Perjury and witness credibility donā€™t really mix. But hey, this is a deep blue state Soviet style show trial, so it may not matter to the jury.

Naturally, the officious NY County persecutor, Alvin Bragg, will need to carefully explain how paying for an NDA (which is perfectly legal) amounts to an illegal act by Trump.

Thatā€™s the closest we get to the meat of the ridiculous legal allegations. And it is part of why the case will never pass appellate scrutiny.

Because he hid that he was the one paying the NDA. That's what makes it illegal.

The thing about Cohen is a scumwad is that Trump hired the scumwad for 30 years... he can't pretend he had no idea that Cohen was a scumwad.

Which will be pretty easy, the crime isn't paying for an NDA, it's for the falsification of business records:
  • Illegal Act #1: Hiding or Aiding the commission of a crime by another, i.e. Cohen's criminal violation of campaign finance laws for which he is convicted and served prison time.
  • Claiming "attorney services" as a business expense (which is tax deductible as a function of income) for the reimbursement of the money paid to the porn start. The NDA payment isn't a tax deductible business expense.
  • Trump's own campaign finance law violation as while candidates can contribute unlimited funds to their own campaign they are required by law to report those contributions to the election law.

Now that's confusing. But at least we know a little more about this rotten-all-around circus aiming to destroy a person. :(

Actually, it's not confusing at all. Trump paid her a lot of money (and threatened her) to claim that nothing happened.

You guys had no problem tauting Juanita Brodderick after she changed her story about Slick WIlly.

Good try. Better than Alvin Bragg, who has never said what "crimes" Trump was supposedly covering up as he supposedly made those supposedly false entries.

Unfortunately, the first two are crimes by Cohen, so it would be Cohen who had reason to have covered them.

For the last one, who do you think will be the witness to claim that Trump directed the entries to be made to skirt campaign finance law? Please don't say Cohen.

Why not? Cohen was a co-conspirator, and we convict people on co-conspirator testimony all the time.

To try to prove their criminal hush money case against former President Donald Trump, prosecutors in New York are expected to rely on several witnesses who are or were part of Trump's inner circle, including his longtime assistant, Rhona Graff, his former director of Oval Office operations, Madeleine Westerhout, and longtime trusted aide, Hope Hicks, sources familiar with the case told ABC News.

The sources said prosecutors with the Manhattan district attorney's office are also expected to call Deborah Tarasoff, who worked in the Trump Organization's accounting department, and Jeffrey McConney, the Trump Organization's former controller, as well as Trump's former attorney and so-called "fixer," Michael Cohen.

I don't think this case is going to destroy Trump, Beautress. Trump has gained more from the 4 different criminal indictments, than been harmed. He gained more support and gained hugely in donations, every time he speaks of witch hunts and persecution, and campaigns on it!

In FACT it is Trump who has politicized and kept his cases front and forward on a daily basis....while prosecutors have basically stayed MUM, except for legal court filings.

I do think this is the weakest case, still a criminal misdemeanor, not a felony...even though it is a felony on paper, under the rules... I'm not certain a felony would have been brought for another candidate....

but, another candidate would have settled out of court for the misdemeanor charge.... Trump would not.

You donā€™t know that he ā€œhidā€ anything. Pure bullshit guesswork by a paid troll hack. And, further, if itā€™s legal, then ā€œhidingā€ it isnā€™t illegal.

So what. Absolutely irrelevant.
he can't pretend he had no idea that Cohen was a scumwad.
Again: irrelevant. I know youā€™re a paid troll scumbag yet I stoop to chat with you.

no. Thatā€™s just the alleged ā€œcrime.ā€

Nonsense. It wasnā€™t a campaign contribution.

Of course you assume (with zero support) that Trump knew that Cohen included the payment for the NDA in the legal invoice.
  • Trump's own campaign finance law violation as while candidates can contribute unlimited funds to their own campaign they are required by law to report those contributions to the election law.

Again, you baselessly categorize it as a campaign expense. Self serving tripe.
Wowa remains wrong.

Nope. You merely parrotted old, tired leftist talking points you have heard.
More like life experience. Every time a Republican gets in, I can expect at least one job change.
