Moon god?

RAMADAN AND ITS ROOTS

Ramadan has Pagan Roots in India and the
Middle East

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the rigid observance ofthirty days of fasting during the daylight hours, has pagan roots developed inIndia and the Middle East. The observance of fasting to honor the moon, and ending the fast when themoon’s crescent appears, was practiced with the rituals of the Eastern worshippersof the moon. Both Ibn al-Nadim and the Shahrastani tell us about al-Jandrikinieh, an Indian sect which began to fast when the moon disappeared andended the fast with a great feast when the crescent reappeared[1].

The Sabians, who were pagans in the Middle East, were identified with twogroups, the Mandaeans and the Harranians. The Mandaeans lived in Iraq during the2nd century A.D. As they continue to do today, they worshipped multiple gods,or “light personalities.” Their gods were classified under four categories: “first life,” “second life,”“third life”and “fourth life.” Old gods belongto the “first life” category. They summoned deities who, in turn, created “second life”deities, and so forth.

The other group, considered as Sabians, were the Harranians. They worshippedSin, the moon, as their main deity, but they also worshipped planets and other deities. The Sabians were in contact with Ahnaf, an Arabian group which Mohammed joinedbefore claiming to be a prophet. Ahnaf sought knowledge by going to NorthernIraq, where there were many communities of Mandaeans. They also went to thecity of Harran in the al-Jazirah district in northern Syria on the borderbetween Syria, Iraq and Asia Minor.

Ramadan was a pagan ceremony practiced by the Sabians, whether they wereHarranians or Sabians. From the writings of Abu Zanad, an Arabic writer from Iraqwho lived around 747 A.D., we conclude that at least one Mandaean communitylocated in northern Iraq observed Ramadan[ii][2].

Ramadan was Originally an Annual Ritual Performed at the City of Harran. Similarities Between the Ramadan of Harran and the Islamic Ramadan.

Although the fasting of Ramadan was practiced in pre-Islamic times by the pagansof Jahiliyah, it was introduced to Arabia by the Harranians. Harran was a cityon the border between Syria and Iraq, very close to Asia Minor which, today, isTurkey. Their main deity was the moon, and in the worship of the moon, theyconducted a major fast which lasted thirty days. It began the eighth of March andusually finished the eighth of April. Arabic historians, such as Ibn Hazm, identifythis fast with Ramadan.[iii][3]

No shit dood. EVERY organized religion has pagan ritual roots. You're just figuring this out?

And all religions, including christianity, worship idols, talismans and magic symbols.

What's the difference?

How is this different from bowing before any other religious symbol?

It depends on the context the person bowing before it takes the religious symbol.

A modern example that keeps popping up is the claim that Catholics are idol worshipers because they pray before their symbols. But the fact is, they do not think of their statues, holy symbols or whtever is God nor a medium of God.

If it is anything(this is my opinion), it is kind of a reference point that identifies them as of the Catholic faith to other Catholics. If they see a catholic praying in another direction, it may cause others to suspect that individuals understanding of their faith.

I am pretty sure that practitioners of Islam would suspect such an individual who claims to be a muslims but do not carry out the proper ritual of pryer with them.

As an atheist(agnostic) I find, unless otherwise directed by them, to at least face the direction of their prayers when I am in a facility controlled by the practioners. To not do this seems like a form of disrespect which is something I do not wish to construe.
Prior to Muhammad’s birth, there were about 570 tribes that comprised the Arab people. These tribes worshipped about 360 gods at Mecca in the Kabah structure.
History records that the first thing that Muhammad did after conquering Mecca was to go to the Kabba and destroyed the 360 idols which were both inside and outside of the structure. ........
.
Well yeah. That was a tactical move. As the inventor of the newly created, fascist politico- religious ideology, he wanted no competition for idol worship. That's exactly why he partnered himself with a gawd.

Do you know the slogan that one recites to join the cult of Muhammad?

There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his Messenger?
It is also an identifier.

There is an identifier for Christians:
Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.

Hmmm, the more I think about it, the more I realize that Christians and Muslims are more similar to each other than, say, Christian and Jews

Another thought. How is making a pilgrimage to Mecca and praying before the Black Stone different than making a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and praying before the Wailing Wall?

Are they getting in all fours in front of the wall? Or just standing there and praying. Was the wall a pagan structure?

So it is merely a question of prejudice then.

Devil's in the details. They are not all the same. Even within Christianity the degrees are different.

However no religion is as based on idol worship as is Islam. It's symbol, it's customs such as Ramadan, even the name Allah. Mohammad crafted it this way such that the pagans, his local tribe, wouldn't refuse to join him. The new "god" was still the crescent moon and even it's name was the same, and they still followed the same local traditions. He was a good politician.

Even what they do in Mecca has pagan roots.

Circumambulation 7 Times
Circumambulation is to go in circles around a particular object. In Islam, worshippers and pilgrims do this around the Ka'aba at Mecca. Pre-Islamic pagans used do it to please the moon god Hubal, the 360 deities and Allah (who was merely one among the many deities worshipped there). Muhammad himself used to do it, even before the 360 idols inside the Ka'aba were removed.

Judaism and Christianity (the religions of those who are considered People of the Book) do not practice ritual circumambulation to please God. Two other faiths which do are Hinduism and Buddhism, religions older than Islam and accused by Islam of “paganism” and practicing idolatry.

Pope Constantine purposely built huge "idols", called cathedrals, on pagan holy sites. He also used pagan workers who incorporated their own symbols into those cathedrals where they remain to this day.

True. Constantine blended Mithraism with Christianity to make it more acceptable to his people. However, Jesus wasn't an idol worshiper, nor did he come from an idol worshiping tribe, as was Mohammad. He was a practicing Jew who believed in the God of the OT.

Constantine wasn't looking to make anything easier for his people. He was going after power. Religion is always about power. Always.

Yes, and so was Mohammad. They were both manipulative politicians.

Name another religion that people get on all fours like idol worshippers.
The jews in the Old Testament part of the Bible prostrated on hands and knee's to put their face on the ground many times to praise and worship G-d with the upmost awe and respect. Here are just a few examples from the Bible:

Numbers 20:6 "Then Moses and Aaron came in from the presence of the assembly to the doorway of the tent of meeting and fell on their faces. Then the glory of the LORD appeared to them;"

Genesis 17:3 "Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying,"

Leviticus 9:24 "Then fire came out from before the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the portions of fat on the altar; and when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces."

1 Kings 18:39 "When all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, "The LORD, He is God; the LORD, He is God."

Ezekiel 1:28 "As the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD And when I saw it, I fell on my face and heard a voice speaking."

Joshua 7:6 "Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the LORD until the evening, both he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust on their heads."

Also, what he conveniently leaves out is the fact that Mohammad kept the black rock, which was one of the idols, that Mualims kiss today,

There is nothing in the Quran telling muslims to kiss the Black Stone but some of them do.

Just like there is nothing in the Torah telling Jews to kiss or worship the Wailing Wall but many of them do.

The Wailing Wall wasn't an idol, it's something that has lasted for thousands of year in a land that Jews believe believe God promised them.

People kiss a lot of things they kiss their child or religious leader's pictures or crosses

Muslims travel thousands of miles to to a pagan Arabian temple to kiss a black rock that was one of the idols in that temple. Then they circle around that rock, and get in all fours like idol worshippers.

Islam is a religion based on idol worship. It calls itself an Abrahamaic faith but it obviously isn't. Mohammad the illiterate made a lot of shit up, including his being related to Ishmael which came over 2000 years before Mohammad. How exactly did he figure that one out ? People can't figure out who their relatives are 500 years ago, despite all the scientific advances of today. Yet this illiterate desert terrorist somehow "knew" back in 7th century Arabia?

True story

Nice try, no cigar. Jews are not permitted to kneel or bow down, and getting in fours is blasphemy, for it is total akin to idol worship. That's why you will never find a Jew kneeling or getting in all fours like a four legged animal worshipping its master, ever.

It's yet another thing your illiterate terrorist prophet got wrong when he tried to mix his moon god religion with Judaism and Christianity creating this catastrophe called Islam.

Exodus 20:5
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me.

Which part of "you shall not bow down" did Mohammad not understand? Oh that's right, he was illiterate, how would he know? He just told his followers to submit aka Islam to his faith like idol worshippers did. Otherwise.....OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!

Come on Sunni boy, now get on fours and stick your ass out for me. Ha ha ha.

So Roudy, are you calling the Torah a lie?

There are many verses where both jewish prophets and people were said to have "fell on their face" and bowed down before G-d. (see post #51)

A person cannot put their face on the ground standing up. You have to get down on your knees and balance yourself with your hands in order to place your face on the ground.

In other words, the jews of the Torah did exactly as the muslims do today when worshiping G-d. .......

Moon god idol worshippers sign in Arabia before Islam. Coincidence? I don't think so:
