MSNBC, for example, has left millions, maybe billions by now, of ad revenue dollars sitting on the table over the years, and it's a very simple equation. Their small viewing audience translates into fewer dollars they can charge advertisers for the same spots they pay MSNBCs competitors a lot more dollars to air.

Considering audience size and programming content are joined at the hip, it doesn't, shouldn't, take a genius to recognize an area in NBCs overall operations where additional millions in revenue are just waiting to be plucked.
