1) He still had to run for re-election
2) His handpicked USSC didn't grant him the power until now.
3) Trump's first coup attempt was just a dry run

I think it means more that Trump is the first republican presidential candidate the National Review didn't endorse.If National Review was smart and wanted to hurt Trump they'd endorse him.

National Review is welcomed to their opinion.Noone can deny that the National Review is a conservative source and has a history of supporting virtually every major Republican politician or cause since its inception. In a recent article, the editor came short of supporting Harris, but did say Trump is an "unpopular, definitely nuts, septuagenarian". Donald Trump still claims his campaign is doing great, and he is leading in all the polls. I guess he really does believe those things since he is definitely nuts.
