New ACLU Video on Targeted Killings | American Civil Liberties Union

Last week in an interview with The Washington Times, the top U.S. national security adviser for homeland security and counterterrorism, John Brennan, suggested that the government is tracking "dozens" of U.S. citizens, who could potentially be placed on a targeted killing list. Brennan stated:

"There are, in my mind, dozens of U.S. persons who are in different parts of the world, and they are very concerning to us[…]If a person is a U.S. citizen, and he is on the battlefield in Afghanistan or Iraq trying to attack our troops, he will face the full brunt of the U.S. military response. If an American person or citizen is in a Yemen or in a Pakistan or in Somalia or another place, and they are trying to carry out attacks against U.S. interests, they also will face the full brunt of a U.S. response. And it can take many forms."

The one... and only... redeeming quality about this total screw-up of a President that I come remotely close to admiring. His use of the Drone Hammer.

As long as they targeted brown skinned people in the ME? What if the same person is drumming up support in France? Do we take them out with a drone? What if the person is in Israel? What happens when their response is a pressure cooker at the Boston Marathon, does that mean we just have not killed enough of them or just not the right ones? Any concern for the innocents that are killed at what is reported at a ratio of 20:1? Any concern for Americans killed without at least a kangaroo court hearing? Or the 16 year old boy whom they killed then said he had it coming because he had bad parents? Really, is that where were are? Kill them all and let God sort them out, or in this case the most trusted CIA and Obama?

I am all for using all our weapons on the battlefield.

Who made that ruling? It is in direct conflict with what this constitutional scholar had to say:

"For the record, I do not believe it would be constitutional for the government to target and kill any U.S. citizen – with a drone, or a shotgun – without due process. Nor should any president deploy armed drones over U.S. soil," he said.

So the man ORDERING the killings thinks what he did was unconstitutional and this doesn't make national news.

Go ahead give the government the ability to take out Americans at their will. Go ahead but just talk nicely about them.

Obama: No President Should 'Deploy Armed Drones Over U.S. Soil' - US News and World Report

From the article:

"When a U.S. citizen goes abroad to wage war against America – and is actively plotting to kill U.S. citizens; and when neither the United States, nor our partners are in a position to capture him before he carries out a plot – his citizenship should no more serve as a shield than a sniper shooting down an innocent crowd should be protected from a SWAT team," Obama said.

Three other American citizens, including al-Awlaki's son Abdulrahman, were killed in drone strikes. The administration says those Americans were not "specifically targeted."

So what if there were a criminal in America walking down the street and the police killed him and three other Americans just because they were in the vicinity?
