"The Mississippi Flag Commission chose Wednesday between the magnolia flag design and a shield design --The magnolia design was chosen 8-1. A second vote was unanimous. Some slight changes will be made in the final design, including making the font for "In God We Trust" bold, which was based on advice from flag makers. The flag has also been renamed the "In God We Trust Flag."
So this coming November, voters will be voting to officially change the state flag -- will this new design be able to sway over enough neo-confederates in order to pass?? I mean, it ain't like the Confederacy represents the totality of what Mississippi heritage is -- boy bands have lasted longer than the Confederacy -- and at least there is "God" on the flag, isn't that enough?? Or do we need to put a picture of Jesus on the flag with a Robert E. Lee beard to be safe??
