New Poll Shows Democrats Becoming Exactly What They Hated For Eight Years

Registered Democratic voters want their party to stop President Donald Trump’s agenda at all costs, according to a Morning Consult poll released Wednesday.

  • Fifty-six percent of registered Democratic voters want their elected members of Congress to “stick to their principles” in combating Republicans, “even if that means blocking all legislation or nominees for government posts.”

  • Only 34 percent of Democrats want elected officials to work with Republicans in getting key legislation passed through either chamber of Congress..

  • The same poll also revealed that 58 percent of respondents wanted their elected representatives to consider Trump’s appointee to the Supreme Court, Neil Gorsuch, based on his qualifications — not on ideology.

  • Additionally, 54 percent of respondents supported Trump’s travel ban, and only 38 percent of registered voters reported they opposed the executive order that severely limits travel from seven muslim-majority nations.

The poll included 2,070 registered voters, and ran from Feb. 3 through Feb. 5. The poll carried a margin of error of 2 percentage points in either direction.

It appears that the Democrat party is fractured. Over 50% of the Democrat voters wanted their elected officials to stick to their principles while Over 50% wanted their vote on Gorsuch to be swayed by his impressive qualifications over ideology and supported President Trump's travel ban.

MY question is, do they comprehend the questions or are they all over the place? Looks like there is a lot of work for the DNC, starting with listening to their constituency.

They've always been this. Party > country. They wouldn't know a consistently held principle if it smacked them upside the head.

throughout 2016, at least 70% of all Americans saw who Democrats actual were and who we all suspected of being,,,"The Party Of Stupid". but then again, Congressman Hank Johnson made the poster boy for that theory.

OXYMORON ALERT!!!!!!

Entire thread laced with use of "Democrat" and "principles" in same sentences!

And righties have done the same .

Oh you couldn't stop crying about executive orders , crying about "unconditional behavior ", cheering right wing gridlock .
But Obama did it anyway, and you thought that was fine. So what do you base your opinion on?

you left out the factoid that 87.9% of Democrats beleive that any small island will collapse if too many people live on the west end.

Obstruction is good now?

Now if we could only get them to back limited government. And remind conservatives limited government is good.

it will always remain a mystery why anyone would vote for Maxine and Shelia when you hear the sheer stupidity coming out of their mouths these last 8 or so years.

Sign of the times. Too many of our Politicians are hateful entitled crybabies. Look at what the Democrats have done to our Congress. They've turned it into the Jerry Springer Show. They don't get their way, they throw 2yr old temper tantrums. But it is what their constituents want i guess. It is what it is.

I think the Democrats need to be smart here. There are a few areas they might be able to work with Trump on: comprehensive immigration reform and tax reform and infrastructure investment. All will need Dem support.

But a lot of what Trump is doing so far is so extreme ideologically, taking place through executive orders - that it might be more difficult to find common ground. But they shouldn't flat out pull a Repug tactic of total obstruction. Even though the Republicans deserve it.
