They got fucked hard. 'Paying their dues' has nothing to do with it. They grew up in a world of excess, walked what they were told was the right path, and when they got to the end of the path there was nothing there. Some of them might not fully understand why they got fucked, but they know they're fucked. And they are right.
There's plenty of blame to go around, and I'm sure some people fit into your convenient stereotype; But to suggest that they're all unemployed because they're lazy and want a handout ain't gonna fly. Too much readily available data suggests otherwise.
The problem is, they thought that the end of college was the end of the path. It's the beginning.
You know what, this is the fourth recession I've gone through in my adult life, and every one of them, I get set back a bit. You deal with it. You don't whine that "Gee, I didn't get what I was expecting. Boo hoo hoo." No. You press on. If you have to put in more hours for less money, that's what you do, until you prove your worth.
This recession, I got fired from a job after six years because they had to make a job for a daughter of some college girl whose daddy was friends with the corporate manager. Had to work a temp job until they hired me full time. That's what you do.
Yeah, I think that Wall Street's behavior is abhorant. But at the end of the day, your boy Barry didn't send any of those guys to jail, and he took a shitload of money from them in 2008, and at the end of the day, you and all the other OWIES will vote for him.
So don't come whining to me because Newt gave you some good advice you won't take.
