Nick Mulvaney encourages banking lobbyists to bribe lawmakers

This headline is classic fake news. It's twisting a cherry picked fact so far out of context it creates an entirely different narrative than what actually happened. He said that he would meet with every single constituent who came to his office, but that lobbyists were far less likely to even get a meeting. Per the original New York Times article: Mr. Mulvaney said that trying to sway legislators was one of the “fundamental underpinnings of our representative democracy. And you have to continue to do it.”

Mulvaney's speech was about the value of government through regulatory agency versus government through legislature, and about the fact that constituents will always take precedence over lobbying.

Go back to bed........

Trump administration will go down in history books as the most corrupt in history. Trump is well documented as a liar and thief. He surrounds himself with the same kind of people.

Grant's administration will pale in comparison to rump's crooked cadre of corrupt bastards.........Yeah, the idiot in chief certainly "drained' that swamp.....lol

Sure it will, because they don’t do the same thing, right? :abgg2q.jpg:
There you go. The House cannot shit can CI. They could pass laws requiring full disclosure of who pays for ads ....... but Dems don't wanna do that. LOL

I think the Sup Ct left open the possibility that congress could require that corporate interests fully identity themselves. G5000 may know better. Dante

The assumption that congress could develop an ethical rudder may be wishful thinking.........we'll see.

Yeah like this isn't & hasn't already been happening forever.

The sooner you realize our lawmakers are corrupt the better.
Democrats publicly coming out and saying show us the money?
Link?
How bout one hiding the CORRUPT MONEY?

Ex-congressman William Jefferson, of Louisiana, gets 13 years in $90K freezer cash case

Here’s the difference. Jefferson KNEW what he was doing was both illegal and wrong. Hence his attempts to cover his crime.

Mulvaney is following Trump’s lead and openly flouting the law. Trump has openly bragged about bribing government officials as a real estate developer. Having done a lot of legal for real estate developers, I have no doubt that he did. Graft and corruption is overt and blatant in the industry.

Now Trump and company have brought that level of corruption to the White House. Well, he did say he was going to run the country the way he runs his businesses. Massive amounts of debt and a whole lot of corruption.

You can’t say he wasn’t up front about it.

Donald Trump Reports He’s Getting Rich as President
The president’s submission to the U.S. Office of Government Ethics claims tens of millions of dollars in income from his real-estate empire.

That's really my criticism of CI; it is duplicitously and falsely naïve. If corporations are just associations of people, they should be able to buy political advertising, and the First Amendment is pretty absolute .. so long as it's political speech.

But if political speech is based upon intentional falsehoods with the intent of hoodwinking voters, what's the remedy? All rights are subject to regulation. The legal test is whether the regulation is narrowly drawn to only affect an identified problem while infringing (ha) the right as little as possible. The Supreme Court based it's rationale on less money being spent on poltitical advertising that potato chips and congress being required to force disclosure. But advertising is the tip of the iceberg, and Mulvaney illustrates. Lobbyists just don't produce inflammatory movies about Hillary to be released just before an election. Secondly, millionaires on both sides don't want to see their name scrolling on a TV screen. Disclosure is a political non-starter. So, imo, at it's heart CI was just a jaded shot at all social changes since 1920.

This mulvaney guy has no reason to worry about what he said, seeing as how we have a prez willing to pardon anyone on his side of the issues.

It's fake news. Mulvaney was really talking about the need to push lobbyist reform to prevent such egregious examples that he was hypothetically discussing. (what's disturbing to me is that women working at faux were cool with that kind of disinformation, but objected to giving bjs for raises)

That’s your take? I read it as an open solicitation for bribes from lobbyists.

“Fake news” under Donald Trump is defined as stuff that’s true, but that makes Trump uncomfortable. Everything that Trump calls out as “fake news” has turned out to be true.

Fake news is anything that conflicts with President Donald J. Trump's current assertion of facts. Which are always subject to his revision. (-:
