Ya gotta be smarter than the bottle. This includes nitrous
It can take a 12 second car and get you high nines if the chassis is right

That thing ran 1170-1220 in street trim. 331 12:1,Reed roller, Offy cross ram. Fixed up the ass end and nitrofied it. 990 regular. second and third. Five second charge.
Went to a powerglide later

Did they notice because it started missing or what?
I had a small block chevy come in after hauling a boat for 100 miles,, he said it started running bad right after he headed home so about 50-75 miles back, I started pulling plug wires to see which cylinder was the problem. I had all 4 off the left bank and it still ran the same way but ran,

I pulled the heads and all the pistons on the left side were broken and some of the valve were broken or gone,,

got to love a small block chevy,,,

People have asked me if that's the manifold serial number.

To this day, take one down to the last bolt and dump it in a pile. I'll put it together. (not trying to be a windbag)

Agreed. Nothing more satisfying than adjusting the lifters when its still on the stand, (#1 then #6 TDC) stabbing the distributor, and it fires first try.

Where I worked once one of the customers had a drag car that would do eights IIRC and it had a powerglide. It would last about 4 or 5 runs and the converter would fail. The only thing messed up in the trans would be that clutches were scorched.

Here's a memory. Remember the Datsun F10? You could replace the clutch disc in 30 minutes with a smoke break thrown in.

They'll do that but the key to straight line is repeat times and cutting a good light. Powerglides rule.
My D&D 'vette had a lenco so it was pretty good. The Poweglide was always the same. Temps changed it more than anything. Carolinas were scorchers. Va not as bad and Ohio. Indiana...just depended I printed 990 or 1010 as an et and was generally close
The pic was either New England or Shuffletown when they used to be 1/4.
They later went 1/8.
1/8 is for pussies
