While it is true that someone in the checkout line failed to get or heed the memo, and handled this situation as badly as would be imaginable, the idea that it is the school's responsibility to provide "free" lunches to kids is positively un-American. Move to North Korea or Cuba. I'll bet all the kids get plenty to eat there.

They'll continue to search far and wide to find a school or local government who didn't pick up the slack when a parent screwed up.

When a child suffers, they try to pin it on the right because that is how they are wired.

No complaints from the left when home packed lunches were inspected and confiscated and the children were given crap instead. The left only picks on parents who actually do provide their children with a lunch and then they'll sharply criticize the contents of the lunch box. They'll never pick on parents who forgot to send a check for their child's school lunches or don't pack them a lunch, then they blame the Republicans.

Pretty messed up way of thinking.
