The government's guidelines states that a state needs to have 14 consecutive days of drops on cases to be able to reopen.

No state has met that and all states are seeing an increase in cases. Yet some states are starting to open up.

Why did the government bother to go to the trouble to put together the guidelines if the states aren't going to follow them?

No consistency from the Admin at the top of this country. Shameful display of incompetence and from those who follow that end.

Because in our federal system, the governors make the final decision on when to reopen.

There are no federal police to enforce any kind of national standards for individual actions. So its really up to the state government and local police agencies.

But the reality of the situation, and I know libs have a hard time dealing with reality and real ville, is that this pandemic hasn't reached the Black Death levels libs had hoped for.

Let me cut and paste this from an email I got today.

>>>We are happy to continue to report encouraging news: UPMC has not seen the surge in COVID-19 cases that we were prepared to handle. Our system-wide positivity rate for COVID-19 testing was 6.6 percent in the one-week period from April 14 to April 20, and COVID-19 patients are using only 2 percent of beds across UPMC. While this data is promising, we must continue being diligent in our efforts to mitigate the virus. <<<

America is heading back to normal, and will be doing so quicker than any lib had expected. The expectations of massive death and disability just weren't met.

Cases?
Are you referring to fever or fatality?
Of course you are referring to fever.
I remember how many times NYC closed because more than half the city had the flu at the same time...
None.

So you don't agree with liberal governors?
Mn governor Tim Walz has opened more nonessential businesses knowing that the numbers of positive cases will rise as testing goes mainstream. The hospitals weren't overwhelmed which was the goal of mitigation, not ever eradication. He gets his information from Dr. Osterholm of the UofM and the go to folks from the Mayo Clinic.
Time to get back to life and quit hiding from the inevitable of herd immunity, which proceeds despite any governments intervention worldwide.
People will not sit for 12 to 18 months.

The case numbers are a joke. My city is "peaking" right now and the local hospitals are taking pay cuts and doing furloughs for lack of patients, COVID-19 or otherwise. They stopped reporting ICU numbers because they were too low and it embarrassed our liberal Mayor.

Back in March, when the idea of House Arrest was sold to the people, the idea was to "flatten the curve".

Graphs were shown to demonstrate that a brief period of 2 weeks of House Arrest would spread out the death and disability considerably, so that the health care system could handle it. The goal posts have been moved, and its 6 weeks later and the libs want to continue this bullshit for a couple of years. This shit isn't going to fly

If trump had no intension of enforcing his guidelines why did he go to the trouble of having someone put it all together?

Why would red state politicians who follow trump not follow him now?

It doesn't make much sense to me.

Plus opening up before cases are dropping is a prescription for more outbreaks. Which will cause more disruptions and possible shutdowns.

Why can't people see that it's best to shutdown now for a short time than open up only to have to shutdown again and probably for a longer time?

I would think that what's happening in the meat packing industry and hospitals would be a very good example of what will happen if we open up too fast.

I believe the states are the ones that are deciding on opening up. The fed had no say in the shutdown, why would the feds have a say in the reopening.

The governor’s of Washington, Oregon and California had a call agreeing on how the would reopen together. The Midwest Governors also had calls and agreeing how and when to reopen.

53000 deaths in 4 weeks isn't good enough for you, eh?

More "increased" testing means more cases
-common sense 101
So they are using hospitals as a read on declines.

Do you like 100,000 flu deaths better?

The original excuse for this foolishness was to "flatten the curve" so hospitals weren't overwhelmed.....We're way beyond that point.

You despotic twirps can stop moving the goalposts any day now.
