Non-whites don't need their hands held

I'm sick of this ridiculous narrative from the left. "We're all equal ... until it's time for handicaps." I know that some minorities are disadvantaged (though others seem to not only be doing well, but exceedingly well), but keeping expectations nice and low for some will do nothing but discourage them from reaching their full potential. They don't need to be treated with kid gloves.

On the other side, the right is probably even worse. They demonize non-whites, then turn around and claim whites are being demonized. Black people are not the enemy. You know what the enemy is? Poverty. Poor education. Lack of opportunity. It is at the root of so many problems, and not only in majority black areas. When people are suffering, they look to point the finger. And it's easier to blame the guy who doesn't look like you. What if they aren't suffering? They no longer need to find something or someone to blame, because they have hope for the future, and they're too busy looking for the next big opportunity to care about petty things like skin color. Yet our politicians neglect all the most important things because it's easier to control the vote when people are divided.

The solution isn't lowering expectations, or throwing money at poverty. People need to actually get involved, and PHYSICALLY get their hands dirty. People are happy to donate to the poor so they can pat themselves on the back, as long as they don't have to actually deal with the poor. We can't rely on our broken government to help us. We have to do it ourselves.

They think it will get them votes, but minorities aren't stupid. They know a false bill of goods when they see it, and they don't need anyone's charity. They need a hand stepping out of the shadow of poverty, but that's not going to happen by focusing on them specifically. It will happen when people get together and do something about poverty and declining education in general, without bringing race into it at all.

it has taken a long time but they are starting to come to their senses

god only knows why after all that the democrats have done to Native Americans for example

that they would continue vote for these two headed snakes

Faulty narratives abound everywhere in race issues. Just like poverty is the major impediment, the complaints of legal justice -- on the streets or in the courtroom -- are not largely racism. It's the lousy way that local govts administer those services to the people of lower economic means. Where not responding to a broken tail light warning can EASILY escalate to faulty warrants or felony level charges because of frustration with court dates or the lack of innovation in giving choices to pay off fines. Pretty soon, you have to choose between getting paid or waiting all day at the courthouse for a 4 minute session on your case.

Good point. I hadn't actually thought of that.

Read the Ferguson DOJ report. When you get to an average of 3 warrants and 1.5 arrests per year per household, it really does scream govt ineptitude and failure to deliver services in a way that makes sense to a community of lesser economic means. Every city tries to emulate the fines, the rules of payments, the way that court dates/times are set. And govt generally gets in the way of INNOVATING for those types of communities.

A LOT of court/admin time could be saved by REVIEWING faulty warrants by computer means. Or a lot of minor infraction escalations could be saved with "guaranteed court appts" or community private/public partnerships for repairing automobiles to safety standards. The LATTER is now blocked and hamstrung by licensing, zoning, regulation, etc. You could have a CO-OP to FIX a broken taillight for $10. Sponsored by a major Auto parts chain.

Always assume when there's a suspicious statistical variance by race or community that it's LIKELY to be govt ineptness and lack of motivation and creativity.
