For my part, I think that's taking a bit too literally Lytton's aphorism.

Trust me, an attack with a pen justifies deadly force. Just as an attack with fists: Many people have been killed by a single fist blow to the head. Real life is not like the Hollywood movies where everyone beats the crap out of each other, then shakes hands and makes up.
