WRONG! You have to be admitted to at least one state bar or the District of Columbia bar before you can be admitted to or practice in the federal bar. That is why I asked how many bars Barr was admitted to. If you are the member of a bar in one state, and are subsequently disbarred, you can not practice in the federal bar. Now provided you are a member in good standing in a state bar, you can practice in federal court in any state, but you must be a member in good standing in at least one state jurisdiction or the District of Columbia.

Generally speaking, disbarment in one jurisdiction will lead to disbarment is all jurisdictions you are a member. But not always.

As I wrote you need to be a member in good standing in at least one state bar or the DC bar to practice in federal court. You can practice in any federal court regardless of the state. But if you lose your law license that right vanishes to practice in federal court.

If Barr is only admitted to one Bar and he is disbarred, he can not practice law in that state or in federal court of any state. If he belongs to the bar of more than one state, he can continue to practice law in federal court in any state but obviously not in the state that disbarred him.


If Barr is disbarred and he is not a member of any other bars, he cannot be attorney general. You need to have a valid law license to be attorney general. Just like a doctor who loses their medical license, he can not be the chief of surgery at a hospital, the same applies to a lawyer and attorney general.

He may however get a job as a paralegal at the DOJ.
