If you want to call that a settlement. But as a landlord, I'm very familiar with discrimination cases. If the government finds actual guilt, they can put you out of business. It's very easy for them to do as well. What the state does is send out minority agents posing as potential renters. If you don't rent to them and instead, rent to a white person of equal qualifications, you are in big trouble unless you have empirical evidence why renting to the minorities would have caused your business harm.

Apparently that didn't happen in the Trump case, otherwise the government would have pursued it much further. They gave up and the Trump's decided to take a slap on the hand. As your article (and all articles) point out, Trump was just one of many companies they brought charges against in a nationwide sting operation. And again, the Trump policy was not to rent to people on welfare regardless of race.
