How does Obama manage to manifest such righteous indignation over rejection of the Background Checks bill when he has actively impeded even the most basic investigation of charges that the Bush Administration conspired to commit felonies -- murderous war crimes, by invading a non-aggressive nation and by approving the brutal torture of detainees at Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo Bay, and elsewhere, many of whom have proven to be completely innocent of any aggression against the U.S.? This brazen criminal behavior by Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Powell, Yoo, Addington, et. al., has seriously denigrated our Nation's reputation in the world and is likely to have contributed to the motivation for terrorist attacks against us.
Fifty years ago I would not have believed the nature of American politics could degrade to its present level. It is depressing to contemplate what the U.S. will be like if the same rate of decline is allowed to continue for another half-century.
