I was listening to a radio talk show this weekend, a local hardcore conservative. He had two very angry callers in a row who said that the death penalty should be issued and completed immediately for anyone involved in "this coup attempt". And importantly, the host did absolutely nothing to mitigate what they said, calm them down, or inject a little reason into the conversation.

Regardless of the side it's coming from, this is bad. It's making things much worse. I have no idea how to fix it.

In the end, the middle is powerless, completely unaware of what "truth," is, the extremes cancel each other out, and the corrupt and powerful have no check on the exercise of power, either on the left, or the right.
