In the novel “1876,” Vidal's protagonist, Charles Schermerhorn Schuyler, hears an anecdote about President Grant's disgust with Senator Charles Sumner's ego. It was said that Sumner did not believe in the Bible. “No, I suppose not,” Grant replied; “he didn't write it.”

Liberals did write the Declaration of Independence and Constitution

Conservatives opposed both documents

No no, todays liberals are the equivalent of the british crown sympathizers and would have fought against washington. No, there is no resemblance.

Todays Conservatives descended from the Torries who supported the King

Wrong side of history again

Yes. They did. The whole point of the Constitution, and Declaration of Independence is freedom from the tyranny that is conservatism, and religion.

This is what conservatives, fascists, and religious zealots hate about America.

Secular human rights.

Which are the antithesis of conservatism, and religion.
