Dems gain nothing by giving in

It only encourages Trump to shut down Government whenever he doesn’t get his way
Trump's support comes largely from the lesser educated whites. And they are the largest group affected directly by the shutdown. Pelosi played it well.
The Trump supporters here really don’t seem “lesser educated”. It seems the liberal progressives here seem to believe whatever their party bosses tell them. I guess some think that makes them more educated.
Just look at the stats, Cutter, Of who voted for who.

So what the posts here are saying is the private sector jobs out there aren't very good jobs.

No critique of private sector employers only criticism of other middle class workers. The wealthy have you believing.

Never give in to terrorists.

Your "terrorists" are "freedom fighters" to the other half of this country. And don't regurgitate the false statement that you're a "majority", because it's BS.

29%
29% approve of the shutdown for border funding.
You're losing and don't even know it.

I don't care about any fake polls that queried a preponderance of liberals and Democrats. The polls quit being relevant in 2016 when they predicted Hillary would win by a "landslide." You idiots might as well be trying to read tea leaves.

But if the polls give you a false sense of security, then good for you. Like 2016, you'll never see it coming until reality sneaks up behind you and smacks you upside the head.

If the private sector workers were any good, they would have qualified for a government job

Their salaries and benefits an envy of most Americans working in the private sector.

Can’t get fired for poor performance.

Retirement packages that are extinct in the private sector. Most Americans have to save to be able to retire, government workers do not.

Let the shutdown continue. They don’t like it, get a job in the private sector.

Envy is a deadly sin. So is hate and both are not healthy. Thus I'll make you really hate me, you see, I have Safety Retirement, which I earned.

It is factored by Years of Service x 3% plus the final years compensation (and for some of us in upper management the ability to enhance the final years compensation by about 15%)

Thus I worked 32 years x 3% = 96% of my last 12 months salary.

However, I was able to increase the 96% by the sale of vacation days and 40 hours of management time (manager's do not get OT), plus added to my 32 years are every hours of sick leave earned during this time.

I was also paying $1,800 dollars each month into the retirement system. Oh, and BTW, I still (14 years after retirement) have the same medical insurance for life.

BTW2, I also receive Social Security since I worked in the private sector during my younger days for the necessary and sufficient number of quarters.
You just outlined why Americans are disgusted with government employees. Thank you.

Thanks for supporting the OP. Americans in the private sector get lay-off notices at anytime, usually unexpected. It’s almost impossible to lose a government job AS YOU POINT OUT.

I laid out the process for a RIF, not for getting rid of bad employees.

You are almost too stupid to talk to
0.18% government employees get fired. 70% of those were during probation period.

RIF requires management to fire based upon tenure. Performance is #4 on the list for tie breakers.

Let them work in the private sector if they don’t like it.

How does that compare to private industry of the same type of job?
1.4% for private sector.
From your link...

What we don't know is how those percentages compare to the private sector. The Department of Labor Statistics estimate the private sector laid off or discharged about 1.4 percent of its workforce during 2014 — but those are not all for performance reasons.
And your point?

Until a couple of years ago Federal employees could sleep or watch porn for 8 hours a day and could not get fired.

I dispute that as a valid comparison. Most government workers do not have equivalents in the private sector. My company doesn't pay people to sit around doing nothing all day or work on political campaigns on the company's dime.

yet a lazy piece of shit like you still works for them...seems you are not telling us the truth

You know absolutely nothing about my life or my career, so your opinion is a pile of steaming excrement.

and the same can be said about you and 99.9% of the government workers...yet you have no problem piling on your steaming excrement post after post after post.
Now Mr ‘I’m a Libatarian’ spends all his time defending the outlandish salaries of government workers.

Another closet busted.

Most do not have outlandish salaries, most are no different than anyone else, they just want to do their jobs and provide a living for their families. Morons like you that demonize them all based on the actions of a few and the words of your party masters.

I would love to see the Fed workforce cut by 25% at least, but done in an orderly manner that does not fuck anyone over like you Trump sheep are cheering about now.

B'loney. Except for employees with professional/doctorate level educations, the pay and benefits for Federal employees exceeds the private sector. The fallacy that they are paid less for the job security is bunk.

Are you kidding? DC region is one of the wealthiest in America. The ONLY region that property values never dropped in the 08 recession.

Who in the private sector gets full salary and benefits at retirement today?

Well, it you say so, but largely Trump's base support is from the less educated white people, usually older.
That means they were educated befor schools became indoctrination centers. I don’t know how someone with a degree in women studies or black studies is better educated or just indoctrinated.

I worked 33 years in the federal government

Most of that time, we were anything but the envy of the private sector

When I started working in the late 70s, pay was 20 percent below the private sector. Fellow engineers ran to job offers at RCA, Kodak, Bell Labs, IBM. They mocked me for accepting a government job

In the 90s, we were begging for qualified workers. The private sector paid journeymen engineers $90,000 plus while our managers made $75,000. Those I interviewed laughed at the salary I offered

By 2008, companies were laying off in droves and cutting pay and benefits. Companies like RCA, Kodak and Bell Labs we’re gone. Qualified workers started to realize that steady pay and job security were valuable

I don’t feel sorry for the private sector

Now I know why you are not a rightwinger. :laughing0301:
