President Obama has proposed the nation's highest base defense budget in history for fiscal 2016.

The $534 billion base Department of Defense spending plan is a response to sharp budget cuts in the past several years, Pentagon officials said, and is meant to help the force rebound by readiness hits caused by sequestration.

In all, Obama is asking for $585 billion for the military. That includes nearly $51 billion in war funding.


The total defense budget released Monday is the highest since 2012 but still more than $100 billion below the military budget during the peak of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The war funding is the lowest since 2002, according to the Pentagon.

The base budget, which covers military costs outside the war in Afghanistan and operations in Iraq, West Africa and other foreign nations, is a 7.7 percent increase over last year.

All that money(printed IOU's) does not mean shit... The morale of our armed forces is in the shitter, our commander in chief has no respect for them.

For anyone to look at our military spending, which is as much as the next 12 largest spenders COMBINED, and think we aren't spending enough is a disease ridden MIC whore.

The people that buy their scare tactics are goats that freeze if you sneeze in their direction.

This relationship between those who want the defense industry set up as a perpetual welfare class who need horrendous amounts of taxpayer money funneled directly into their pockets and the sizable minority that these people terrify into submission every election is grotesque. It is a crack dealer and his most addicted buyers. The only difference is the drug is fear.
