One Euro-centric campaign speech in June 2008 - focused more upon defeating terrorism and building wealth through open markets and promising a continued good relationship with and defense of Europe, long before he attained the Presidency - to a crowd of free-lunch Berliners - is hardly the basis for a Nobel Peace Prize.
Are you referring to his lightweight 'outreach post' targeted at Iran, conjured-up in late 2008 prior to his inauguration, undercutting the current President, and amounting in the end to absolutely nothing?
Or are you referring to his YouTube outreach to the Iranian People in March 2009; two months after after the January 31, 2009 close of nominations for the Nobel Prize?
Or are you referring to other informal outreach to the Iranians in the February-March 2009 timeframe, 1-2 months after the January 31, 2009 close of nominations for the Nobel Prize?
It does not seem likely that any of that could have been realistically viewed as Prize-worthy, as of the January 31, 2009 close of nominations for that year's Peace Prize.

The series of trips that began two (2) months after the January 31, 2009 close of nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize, and that could not possibly have formed part of the basis for that nomination?
That must've been one powerful dose of 'hope', to have made such an impression, by the January 31, 2009 deadline for submitting nominations for the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize!

2. he had Muslim connections and that hinted at a rapproachment with the Muslim world
3. George W. Bush scared the shit out of the Euro-weenies
4. Obumble was not Shrub (Bush)
...and not because Obumble had actually DONE anything to deserve such an Honor.
Because, in reality, he had NOT, by the January 31, 2009 deadline for nominations.
