Report: Pentagon looking at withdrawing troops from Germany

The Pentagon is examining the specifics about a potential withdrawal or transfer of U.S. troops from Germany, the Washington Post reports, after President Trump expressed interest in doing so earlier this year.

The details: U.S. officials tell the Post that "the exercise is limited to an internal exploration of options." Pentagon spokesman Eric Pahon said that the review is routine, and "nothing new," reinforcing that the U.S. is "committed to our NATO ally and the NATO alliance." However, European officials have grown concerned over that assessment.

they need to withdraw some from all over the world
this would mean we would stop wasting much-mucho $$$$
we would stop GIVING these countries mucho $$$ , and put those $$$ into the US
these troops would stop spending their $$$$ overseas and spend them here
etc
costs:
transporting troops/families/equipment/etc all over the world
upkeep of bases/etc
supplying oversea bases
mucho etc

this is an EXPONENTIAL win for the US--

I think/thought Obama was a good guy---had some good-sensible ideas/views/etc
but he was also a typical politician trying to please everyone all the time
...but he was also thinking more about being a ''social'' activist = anti-white anti-police/
criminal sympathizer---instead of doing what was right--denouncing criminals/etc like MBrown/ASterling/KScott
...

Screw those Kraut socialists. We rebuilt their country after they tried to overtake Europe, and now they won't give us the time of day.

Let them fend for themselves now.

We need to be withdrawing most of our military around the world. We do not have the money to continue funding our military largess and the Europeans need to start carrying their own weight when it comes to their defense.

President Trump Seeking Removal of Troops from Germany

62 years later and we still have troops there. Troops that WE pay for without Germany and other European countries paying their fair share. Time to bring them home!

The Pentagon regularly reviews force posture and performs cost-benefit analyses,” Eric Pahon, a spokesman for the Pentagon, said in a statement to The Washington Post. “This is nothing new. Germany is host to the largest US force presence in Europe — we remain deeply rooted in the common values and strong relationships between our countries. We remain fully committed to our NATO ally and the NATO alliance.”

Where would you recommend and why?

Where would you like to withdraw them from and why?

You realize that Congress will just eliminate them and make our military even smaller than it already is now.

My daughter's unit returned from Afghanistan last winter. 14 months later they are in Iraq. How long before we burn out the troops we have?

We wouldn’t need as large of a military as we do now and they wouldn’t be getting burnt out if we weren’t fighting everybody else’s wars.

It seems to me we have only a limited number of troops engaged in Iraq and Afghanistan, Where are these large numbers of troops you seem to think we have just sitting on their ass?

Our military is already microscopic compared to the past.

I note that you dodged the initial question. That is probably a good thing since you probably have not thought it through.
