The Los Angeles Times reported yesterday that a rifle connected to the Operation Fast & Furious scandal was used in the murder of a Mexican police chief earlier this year in the state of Jalisco, nearly three years after the gun was purchased from an Arizona gun shop.

Identified by the newspaper as a WASR rifle, which is an AK-type semiautomatic, the rifle was reportedly recovered after the January 29 murder when Mexican authorities arrested eight suspects and recovered “a cache of weapons.”

Fast and Furious allowed some 2,000-2,500 guns “walk” out of Arizona gun shops and into the hands of Mexican cartel gunmen. The first known casualty of one of these firearms was U.S. Border patrol agent Brian Terry in December 2010. Now Hostotipaquillo Police Chief Luiss Licio Rosales Astorga’s name has been added to the list of the dead that is linked to guns allowed to move by officials with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives during the operation, launched in 2009 during the first Obama administration.

Manuel Osorio-Arellanes has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the death of US Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. He was part of a rip-off crew that snuck into the United States from Mexico. I think I put more blame on the orders to shoot bean bag shots at those fuckers long before I'd blame the ATF agents (or was it the lawyers who refused to press charged in those straw purchases.....)

Furthermore the purchases that the ATF agents witnessed and suspected were straw purchases were entirely legal in AZ.

The Drug Cartels are murdering people regardless of where their weapons came from.

Stop the draconian drug war and the Cartels' power will be drastically reduced and so will the violence in Mexico. F&F ending years ago yet the violence continues.

In reality the only thing the original talking points they got wrong was that there was no initial demonstration at the Consulate before the attack occurred. The motive behind the attack is still unknown but there are several reports that the attackers claim that is was indeed the video that inspired the attack. You do remember the video that caused so much outrage and violence in the ME? Dozens of people were killed in days of rioting.

Unless they have some proof that the Whitehouse ordered the IRS to target those groups there is no scandal involving the president. No group who is politically active should receive the anonymous donor, tax-free status. That's the way the law was written. So the real scandal is why the law was changes by some bureaucrat.
