Piano and Organ music that I wrote today

Outstanding. I used Finale as well. Good work, man. You can use filter options for the Bone and Horn to filter in and out the overtones you want. You are a fine player as well.

BTW, I compose as well. You can find lots of my stuff over at the Jewish Music thread, HERE and HERE, for instance.

Just in your honor, I uploaded the midi files to a brass work of mine, since you wrote so well for trombone.

5 Fripperies (for 4 Horns, Euphonium and Tuba). This is fun stuff:

https://soundcloud.com/statistikhengst/frippery-number-1

(No 1. Uses a Tschaikowski theme. Can you recognize it?)

https://soundcloud.com/statistikhengst/frippery-number-2

(No 2. Uses a Puccini tune from a very, very famous opera and sets it as a kind of kind of Bossa-Nova, with an advertisement theme hidden at the end. Can you find it??? )

https://soundcloud.com/statistikhengst/frippery-number-3

(No 3. is an homage to both Palestrina and Vaclav Nelyhbel and uses "In Dulci Jubilo" mixed with a jazz Euphonium solo in the middle that is my melody. This type of brass writing is commonly associated with Nelhybel)

https://soundcloud.com/statistikhengst/frippery-number-4

(No 4. - Drunken sailor, anyone? Plus, there is another theme buried in there. Think the words "bathroom key"!!)

https://soundcloud.com/statistikhengst/frippery-number-5

(No 5. is an homage to Beethoven as a 12-bar blues, I am sure you will recognize more than one theme....)

This work was commissioned by the Beethoven Orchester Bonn and I wrote for the Brass section of that orchestra. The premiere was in June, 2011 at an amazing Villa, called "Villa Prieger". I need to dredge up the recording and get it copied over, but for now, enjoy the midis....

You made an awesome thread here, hope you don't mind me sharing my stuff with you.

best,

Right!! For Frippery 1, it was Tchai 5!!

The bone sounds much better with the filter, and the slurs sound cleaner.

First Sunday I haven't worked in a very long time.

So, I wrote two compositions based off the same left hand theme.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbT_qoGAP5s

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euSqBc99UY4&feature=youtu.be

Sounds a bit like a minor key version of Pachelbel's Canon in D. I like it. The left hand figure seems to mostly focus on d natural and a natural which makes sense in d minor. I can usually tell the key by listening to the bass notes. I took a shit load of music theory classes in College. I have a piece I recently wrote in d minor. The chord sequence is

Dm C Bb F/A bass Gm Dm D

F Gm7 Am7 A Dm

Gm7 Fm Eb A Dm

The first part is a descending bass line from D natural down to G and going back to the tonic D. Play around with it....and tell me what you think. I really like both your pieces. They're really good. Post some more. :)
