I'm not defending anything, just pointing out that history doesn't start when something bad is done to you. At its heart, mankind is alike, very tribal, and IMO, if you go back far enough, every people group in history has tried to dominate another and take what they wanted. In the process, they often seized prime land and enslaved the conquered. Events do not happen in a vacuum.

Yep, and it's gotta make a tribe think to itself - how were we so vulnerable to be taken over by another ? That's the part where they fail if they can't answer, because when they don't correct those problems, then they will remain ignorant and vulnerable until they do.

The old saying applies - "A hard head and a prideful hand leads one to a reckless fall".

Greed has become our greatest fall on whole, because the love of money becomes the root of all evil for many. The selling out of one's tribe is definitely a tragic thing.
