CDZ POLL: The "Is It Racist" Quiz

Which comments are racist?

  • Total voters
    39
Started in the CDZ in an effort to keep name-calling to a minimum. I'm sure we can all do that.

Quick background: I'm of mixed race (half Hispanic half European), my wife is also of mixed race, as are (obviously) our beautiful children. Our Christmastime family photos put any Celebrate Diversity! poster to shame, from Spanish & Mexican to Japanese to Nigerian. Not a full-bloody whitey amongst us.

Perhaps as a result, I take the terms "racist" and "racism" very seriously, and it saddens me to see the way the terms have been diluted and trivialized by people who feel they gain advantage by spraying them around like water.

So let's see where we stand. Please identify all terms you would normally feel are racist, and please comment, thanks.

For the record, I picked #6 and #7. I think #5 is borderline, and would depend on the situation.
.

Your poll is meaningless and irrelevant. All it proves is that YOU are racist for seeing yourself and others in terms of race! None of the above are intrinsically racist on their own without there being more info about the reasons why they think that. Barring that, they are nothing more than observations------ we are all free to like and dislike ANY ONE WE WANT for any reason, no input from you needed.
Here we go again.

Maybe read through the thread.

Apparent having a discussion about what things are racist is racist.
Evidently.

What a weird thread. Two people now who completely missed the point.

I’ve been told on the board that it is racist to ask a person that is not white where he/she is from!

The first word that comes to mind is .... nonsensical.

(Actually, it was "stupid", but I left that out)

Okay. Assuming that you would prefer to keep your race separated from other races, is it because you feel they are inferior in some way, and that any mixing would lead to the decay of your race?

Nope.

i learned a long time ago that trying to refute the terminally stupid is an exercise in frustration and a gigantic waste of time.

Both. Also I believe the white race is natures finest creation and we are the best of the best when left to our own devices and not having to take care of other races via welfare which makes us work harder etc. Its a simple fact from THOUSANDS of IQ tests, exams, studies etc that ALL races differ in so many ways and none are equal in any way shape or form and shouldn't strive to be.

No, YOU are missing the point. You have to THINK in racial terms yourself before you can SEE things in racial terms. Grow up and see the world community of people for what they really are--- --- PEOPLE, and get over your own self-professed hang-ups!

That definitely sounds that you feel other races are inferior.

That's pretty much the textbook definition of "racism", isn't it?

JoeMoma, this has happened twice now on this thread. Two posters who are 180° off point, totally missing it.

Looks like both ends of the spectrum can be hypersensitive on this stuff, not just the Left.

Toobfreak, please read post 81. If you still think this after reading that, then never mind.
.

you forgot stating facts is surely racist
such as:
blacks commit murder at a much higher rate than whites
blacks commit hate crimes at over TWICE the rate of whites
--the big one--blacks graduate at lower levels
etc
I've been on other forums [ and on USMB ]--when you state facts = racist
and then they try to DENY the FACTS!! hahahahahah
It is when its not facts....and intent matters a great deal. Why do some work so hard to find, cherry pick or distort info just to disparage, discredit or demonize another group? Intent not the words themselves are what makes something racist.
I said facts--not untruths.....
the ones who distort the facts--don't listen to facts -evidence!!--are the blacks

wat?! White and Brown people are exempt from this magically somehow? Quite an absurd statement there.

This thread would be better w/o that bear guy crapping it all up. I picked #7.

Context is needed...I think the birther crap is racist...I think criticism of Obamacare is not.
I don't see the birther crap as racist. No one is saying that he is inferior because they're pretending he's Kenyan or that Kenya is inferior.

They're just playing partisan politics, trying to discredit him and his agenda and Democrats and whatever the hell else they're trying to discredit.
.
I think it is, as Marty calls it, Diet Coke racism. When it has been thoroughly debunked and people continue to insist you have to ask why...what is behind the belief that would cause people to work so hard to prop it up....because a black man can not possibly be a legitimate president?

Please remember folks that this is in the CDZ....no flamining, no insulting or putting down other posters.

Maybe a lot which gets labeled racism is prejudice or bigotry rather than racism.

In my opinion:

*** According to the definition in most dictionaries, probably Nos. 5, 6, and 7 would definitely be considered "racist."

*** Almost all online discussion forums, I am certain, would delete Nos. 4 - 8, and they would permanently ban any poster who voiced such opinions as violating their rules that prohibit explicit or implicit insults against any particular ethnicity.
