Poor underpaid freeloader

Seeing no response either in outrage or in agreement, one must come to the conclusion that people are content with assholes like this to represent them.

Explains why they could elect and then RE-ELECT him, all the likes of him in congress and the White House.

There is a point to be made in support of asking for a raise for Congressmen.....

That they often have to have two homes, one wherever they hail from and another in Washington DC.

There is another point as well..... If Congressmen are extremely well paid, there will be less of incentive for them to accept bribes and other dirty money. Knowing dimocraps, however, I doubt that would make a bit of difference to one of them.

But the main point is this....

If you think you deserve more money.... Stay the fuck out of Washington. If you're in it for the money, stay the fuck out of Washington. If you think you can make more money being a slip and fall scumbag lawyer, stay with your thieving law firm. If you think you can make more money running a business, then stay home and run it.

Politics in this Country has become a profession. It shouldn't be.

Yeah, we should have professionals in Washington, but not elected ones.

No way.

IMO, politicians shouldn't be paid more than the national average per capita income.

They are NOT our masters, they are our servants.

At least, that's how Republicans look at it.

True, but not particular this case, regarding this particular, complaining congressman.

No matter where his home is in Virginia, it is not more than a two hour drive from where he "works". Renting an apartment with a location and stature befitting a Congressman is well within what a $174,000 annual salary can buy.

When a person decides to run for a public office he/she do so not with the potential benefits in mind, but with the intention of doing something for the public good. And if he/she finds that the taxpayer funded compensation for his/her efforts is not sufficient, let him/her resign and/or not run for the same position again.

Whining and complaining about the job and what that job pays is not what a voter hopes to see in their representative.

The good people in his district should turf this complaining unworthy bastard out of office and never elect him again, not even for dog catcher because even dogs deserve better.

For a career living in 174000 in Washington may be just on the edge of enough, in my opinion. What raises should be based on is economic performance just like any business. Pass a raise, or cut in pay, on the increase in SS or the GDP or in some other metric. The truth is there are a whole lot more in Washington living on a whole lot less and, what he calls the board, the state of the Union isn't that great. I am not sure of what he thinks makes him deserving of a raise, other then normal whining.

Any way it is not surprising he is a democrat. I have found out they have a new salute.

For executives, $174,000 is pretty shabby. High School Principals make more.

Congressmen and Judges should make $300,000 and the President $1 million

Your concern for the 1 percent again is noted.

174,000 would be seemingly a lot to most people but not to the 1 percent. So if that is what we want in Congress then so be it, it is what we pretty much have today. Besides doesn't this guy know about the bribes an insider trading?

Executives are in charge of employees' lives, their livelihood and their present and future. Executives EARNED their position, their salary and their power and influence not by a one-time whimsy of misguided electors like Congress men/women do, but by years of evaluation by their peers.

High school principals are grossly overpaid, based on the results of surveys of achievements compared to high school graduates in other countries.

Congressmen should be aware of the salary they would get before running for the office. If they are not happy with the pay they get, they can not be expected to represent their constituents in an honest way and they should have the decency not to run for the office.

Judges like the one who give suspended sentence to the creep who abused his own daughter should be hanged by the neck alongside the creep they were so generous with.

I have no problem with your contention that the President is worth a million bucks a year. Even this one.

When you include all the other benefits that come along with being President, he makes more than enough. He gets free air travel anywhere in the world. He has an entertaining budget that is in the millions. He has a huge household staff including several chefs, numerous maids, butlers, secretaries, and other attendants of various types. He has free entertainment in his own home by the elite of Hollywood and the music industry. He has a helicopter at his beck and call that lands right on the white house lawn. He gets the best medical care that money can buy. He lives in a huge mansion rent free.

The president lives like a guy that earns $10 million/year. He doesn't need to make anymore than he makes now.

They are highly educated lawyers and businessmen who would command much more in the private sector.

They make more than a bus driver but much less than those with similar qualifications and responsibilities

When did paying someone a shitload of money ever make them want less money?

Shit floats, truth sinks. I was busy editing my latest political speech to reply to this in time, I wish threads like this always stay on top instead of garbage threads.
BTW, someone shared this on my fb this morning too.

Exactly!! It should be an honor to serve your country, not a lucrative endeavor. If they can't afford to serve, maybe they shouldn't run. They are not poor. Most become millionaires during their stints in congress, which in itself is disturbing.

They don't read bills before endorsing or voting on them. That is their only job and they can't do it. They have failed to earn their current wages, let alone more. If they find that unacceptable, they can go home. It's clear they have the wrong motives if money is all they think about. And while they are concerned about their own hardships, they pay no mind to the millions of people who suffer as a result of their laws. Maybe if they would read and understand what they are doing to us, they'd vote differently. Better yet, if they had to abide by the laws they pass, maybe they'd vote differently.

You are correct.....most would do it for free
Just the power and connections alone are worth the poor pay

Doing this and we will ensure that only the wealthy who do not need the money will run

Conservative dream

Republicans didn't read the USAPATRIOT Act, either, and voted for it.

You got it wrong, a soldier should make $100,000 a year. Congress should make the average american pay level. Also this failure in chief we bave now should pay us.

Why would you expect a high level executive with immense responsibilities to make what a bus driver makes?

Nope. Just missed the thread. I feel and share your anger and disgust.
