I already read it-------the most interesting parts are written by the people who actually met
Jesus----------the really rank parts are written by those who did not. None of the writers said

Uh-- I don't think Penelope was referring to that Mary. The only one associated with "prostitution" is Magdalene, and as you correctly noted, that's undocumented myth. Yes it was extremely odd for an unattached lady to be hanging around -- it was unheard of to even BE unattached at that age. That's some of the indications that she's Jesus' wife, a status wiped out of the Holy Babble probably at the Council of Nicea where they bent over backward to sell the whole "virgin birth" baloney.

The idea of ascetic celibacy goes along with that. It's kind of a bonus track.

From reading the Bible. It wasn't enough to get Jesus clipped for saying he was the Son of God, but he was a threat to their powerbase. You see the exact same thing over and over and over in history. Someone in charge sees a threat and has the threat killed. His actions were the threat, not the whole "Hey Pilate, This guy says he's king of the Jews. That means insurrection so now you got to kill him!"

Ask yourself, what even brought Jesus to the attention of the Sanhedrin in the first place? It was Jesus saying the rot in God's kingdom isn't Rome, it is in the Temple. That's what got JC killed.
