I can't blame them. I wouldn't want to live there either. I'd actually rather be here in Mississippi, and I'm still struggling with whether I can stand to stay here after I retire. The only positives are it is absolutely the cheapest place for me to retire, even all my retirement income would not be excluded from income tax. And probably most importantly my backyard's been "groomed" for two dogs. If I stay, I can get a new dog. If I leave, I won't get one.

In Portland they need to take some firehouses and clean up that place. But its up to them.

Who the hell can afford to possibly defend Fake Criminal charges that can be levied?

Resigning and backing away from such a risky situation is actually a smart and considerate idea, the officers are thinking about their family's future. They are counting on using their nest egg to pay their children's tuition and orthodontic bills, or retire. Not enrich some lawyer because of fake charges levied by a whining liberal DA at the behest of a rioter.
