Zone1 Pray in the closet

He should pray in his car, why do we need another preacher?
These are the same Communist totalitarians who think that Christians should only be able to express their (mine) faith in complete privacy and seclusion. Newsflash: True Evangelical Christianity is a very PUBLIC faith, one where believers have been martyred over the centuries for.

Naturally all the religous voted yes, all the freaks the same ones that voted to overturn roe v wade,

what ever happened to MY Body , my Choice.

It was only good for hypocrites.

"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen.

You're quite the mess.

An appropriate place to pray to God is, everywhere. If you are doing it to puff up your ego then the appropriate place is nowhere. The passage you refer to is a lesson in humility and was brought about because of the egos of the Pharisees. They didn't pray in public to be heard by God, but to be seen by man. They had the wrong motive.

“Kennedy consistently invited others to join his prayers and for years led student-athletes in prayer,” she wrote. In an unusual move, the dissent included photographs showing Mr. Kennedy kneeling with players and others.

Do you understand the difference between 'invited' and 'coerced'?

He did NOT force anyone to join him. The fact that others did isn't germane to the discussion.

Even as a teacher, he has the right to practice his religion. Even in the public square. There is no need or requirement for him to hide at all.

He isn‘t “preaching“, he is saying a prayer. Anyone can pray, not just “preachers”.

Are you still intent on digging yourself in these holes?

I think it might be a good idea for us to try and re-set our expectations of Christians.

All these years, I've tended to think of Christians as devout, humble, honest, decent people who do their best every day to live their lives as close as they humanly can to the teachings of Jesus. I've known many Christians who were and are like that.

It's not like that any more, at least in a large part. My bad. Live and learn.
So you know for a fact that this coach is a “bad Christian”?

I don't with you religious freaks.
Why do you assume someone is a “religious freak”? Just because we respect one man’s choice and rights to pray on a football field after a game with some kids?

I’ve seen NFL players pray on the field. Even during a game when someone gets injured. Are you going to protest that?

These are the same people who would have zero problem shuttering any church that DARES to tell the Truth and not toe the party line.

It’s after the game is over. Why the hell would he not be allowed to pray?
Which other religions should be allowed to join in? Can Muslims pray there too? What about a moyle? Can he practice his religion on the 50 yard line?

Religious threads are about as personally boring a thing as I ever see posted on any board.....Must be due to my agnosticism.

How about a nice western water thread instead. ;)

Knock yourself out. You can pray to Moloch all you want on the 50 yard line.

He didn't have a megaphone shoving his prayer on anyone. He knelt in a private prayer, Penny.
You have a failure to launch on this one.
