Trump's lawyers are laying the groundwork for a brazen new legal strategy in the Russia probe

Trump's lawyers are laying the groundwork for a brazen new legal strategy in the Russia probe
  • President Donald Trump's defense team is arguing that Trump cannot be charged with collusion or obstruction of justice — the central threads of the special counsel's Russia investigation.
  • Two of Trump's key defense lawyers, John Dowd and Jay Sekulow, have said in recent days that collusion is not a crime and that Trump as president cannot be guilty of obstruction because he "has every right to express his view of any case."
  • Legal experts have pushed back on the claims, saying that Trump's lawyers are ignoring the crux of the obstruction case and that he could be found guilty of crimes resulting from collusion.
Just how dumb can these people get? The treasonous fat senile old orange clown is now claiming that he is above the law. You 'Conservatives' fine with that?

Not only is he saying he's above the law (actually, it was his lawyer that said that), but he's also got his lawyer taking the fall for his tweet about the Russia thing, and now has been saying that the Entertainment Tonight tape wasn't him.

Yep, when caught, deny, deny, deny......................and if you can manage it, get other people to take the blame for you.

Wonder how much his lawyer is getting paid to be thrown under the bus?

I LOVE it ...go Trump GOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes, I'm fine with it

Dershowitz is out there saying that the President cannot be charged with obstruction of justice. AND he's been saying that right from the beginning this shit started.Ditto collusion.

What law states that collusion is illegal?

No American is above the law. When that is abrogated, we no longer have a nation of laws, and are well on our way to a dictatorship.

Interestingly enough, Jeff Sessions said the exact opposite and that presidents can be charged with obstruction of justice because of Clinton and his scandal with Monica.

Sessions argued in Clinton impeachment that presidents can obstruct justice

Trump could LIE under oath--and we wouldn't give a CRAP......
lying under oath--sound like anyone else you know???

You know, before Nixon, presidents had a lot more power. But, because Nixon screwed up, when Clinton came around, they decided that presidents COULD be charged with obstruction while in office. Just ask Sessions when he was going after Clinton.

And, Nixon was the last president that was allowed to withhold federal funds from specific cities, but because he used that as a political weapon, no president after him could withhold funds for more than 45 days, and they had to be back paid if they were held.

Thank Sessions and Nixon for that one.

But can a president obstruct Justice by Exercising His Constitutional Authority?

I don't know the legal ins and outs. I just know that a president can be convicted for obstruction.

Firing Comey falls under the constitutional authority of the president.

We've never had to deal with a childish unethical president like Trump. I expect the Supreme Court to redefine some of the laws we now have to prepare for the off chance we get another one. It won't happen until Trump is gone, but shortly after.

Is that the supreme court’s job...... to redefine laws?

Too funny.

Under current and oncoming circumstances, it is unlikely in the extreme the SCOTUS will move along paths of Democrat making, short of their succeeding at passing amendments, even more unlikely.
