President Orders 5,000 Troops to US Border

The WH needs to issue EOs that that temporarily gives the troops the power to stop the invasion at the southern border and immediately deport the invaders. Otherwise all we have is the border patrol, and they would be overwhelmed. So I like the troops there, but we need to allow them to "detain" illegals.
No, we don't.

The military exists for a singular purpose - to kill people and break shit. End of story. They are not police and using the military as police NEVER works out well. It seems there are far to few that realize this anymore.

We are guarding the Korean border, we are in 150 countries with 7 of those with 4,000 or more. So if we put 5,000 on our southern border to stop an invasion its about fucking time.
The Korean border is a warzone. In those 150 countries (including Korea) can you name a SINGLE law or law enforcement capacity that the military fills?

I reject the "Law enforcement" argument for guarding the US border from "invaders and terrorists", or the Korean border for that matter. The military will be protecting US sovereignty, not hunting down and arresting criminals. Protecting the US borders is a Federal responsibility, its not a "law enforcement" function, otherwise the illegals would be arrested and sent to jails instead of caught and released or caught and deported.
protecting the border from harmless civilians. We don't need a strong military, made up of trained warriors for that. We can do that with a bunch of losers in uniforms

What is your argument for what should be done with them? Do tell us

Who says that the caravans are comprised of harmless civilians? They are 80% male, which will probably turn to 99% male after another week or two, and those males have a significant number of criminals. So to prove that the US is serious about locking down the border the US military will ensure that no illegals enter. Its a great idea.

Which “losers” do you speak of?

No worry every thing will change again after the election, the goal of keeping a large number of people worried about an invasion will have worked. Texas has had a lot of problems with floods & heat maybe the military will spend some of its pay in the border towns & help the local economy. after all Mexico is Texas main trading partner.

We have no responsibility over what to do with them. Block them and they can starve or get back in their Soros trucks and vans.
It’s a home invasion, get off my lawn and you are Not coming through my front door.

Neat how the Left hijacked the CivilRights movement of blacks to guilt people into flooding the USA with whole other countries.

The US Military raised their hand and swore they would support and defend the constitution of the US from all enemies foreign and domestic. I'm praying that this mission for the military doesn't turn out like Beirut in 1983. There is a possibility that these caravans of migrants could be holding middle eastern terrorists. Bring the fighting to our soil.

Really? You think a deployment to the border is like what the Marines had in Beruit when they got hit by a car bomb in their barracks back in '83? I was there, and it was nothing like what you are trying to make it sound like.

Not at all ABikerSailor, I was at Camp Lejeune and worked on General Grays staff. I want people to remember the Peacekeeping Force was unarmed. And no way to defend themselves. It's sorta like what is happening now. The military is going to the border as support. Not to imply or take anything away from you. So sorry I touched the nerve.

Donchaknow? They are all pre-med honor students.

I am damn glad that asshole Crooked Hillary is not President.

Instead of sending troops to protect our borders the bitch would have sent limousines to pick up the Illegals and take them to sign up for welfare and then to register to vote as a Democrat.

You know, like Obama did with his filthy "Dreamers".
God this is the dumbest post of the day.

Tent cities?......hmm I don't like the idea very much..... I haven't read all this thread but can somebody tell me where are these tents cities going to be...?

In Mexico? in USA? where

Well, considering that if the US sent in military to build tent cities in Mexico, that would be considered a legitimate invasion, and could be responded to with military force.

So, they are going to build them here in the US, close to the border.

Don't like the idea of tent cities. Better send them back to their countries.

But that's just me

In Mexico. Tent cities are a deterrent for others who may be considering doing the same. It takes at least three years to get a court hearing for asylum. The last guy allowed them into the country, detained them for a couple of weeks, then let them out into the public until their hearing date. Problem is, most of them never showed up because they knew their claim was phony, but they snuck into the country anyway.

So now Trump is going to keep them outside of the country. If you want to wait three years in a tent for your court date, be my guest. If he goes through with it (which it seems he is) then others will get the message and not form any more caravans to come to the US. You're not getting in period.

So if I'm understanding this right.....these tent cities are definitely going to be in Mexico?

Correct, at least according to Trump. He said that nobody will enter our country, but they are allowed to live in these tents until their hearing date.

They were never coming here for asylum. They are coming here to use asylum as an excuse to enter the country legally until their hearing date. Trump is putting a stop to that.

So Mexico gave the OK for these tents to be in their territory?

I'm asking only because I don't know enough about that situation.

I don't know how they could object. If we just closed the borders (which they would never want) then those people would be there anyway or have to trek back to their country. As long as we're funding this camp sight, I don't see how they would mind. I'm sure they are not happy about people from other countries using their country to get to the US all the time. They want it stopped as well. This move by Trump could very well accomplish that.

It's almost a perfect plan really. The only way there could be a problem is (like always) liberals and their media.

Hey Ray, what kind of bet do you wanna make that the tent cities are going to be here in the USA? There is no way in hell that Mexico is going to allow US troops in their borders to build tent compounds for detaining refugees that haven't even gotten to the US yet. Not only that, but they don't have any authority, border patrol or otherwise, to detain anyone on Mexican soil.

If you believe that Trump is going to put the tent cities in Mexico, you're dumber than I thought.

BTW................wanna place bets on it? How much can you afford to lose?

And...............here's a link that says Trump will build them in the USA. Pay attention to the last part where he says if they don't get asylum after being held, then they are kicked out.

Trump says U.S. will build "tent cities" to host asylum-seekers

President Trump, during an interview with Fox News' Laura Ingraham on Monday, said that his administration plans to build "tent cities" to hold immigrants who have entered the U.S., applied for asylum and are awaiting trial.

"If they apply for asylum, we are going to hold them ... We are going to build tent cities. We're going to put tents up all over the place. We're not going to build structures and ... spend all of these of hundreds of millions of dollars. We are going to have tents, they are going to be very nice, and they are going to wait. And if they don't get asylum, they get out."
