Pro-Trump senator says Covid survivors should throw away their masks and ‘celebrate’ as he falsely claims they are immune

Why do they disregard, ignore, and distort science so damn much? lol
The science....says that you can get reinfected from a different strain of Covid---even though you have had one of the strains and recovered.

Thus far..it appears to be rare.

One of the many fears surrounding Covid-19 is whether you can catch it again. The answer is yes, it appears so. A team of researchers at the University of Nevada, Reno, are examining the case of a patient who came down with Covid-19 twice, which would be the first identified reinfection in the United States. This news comes on the heels of the first documented case worldwide—a patient in Hong Kong, according to The New York Times.
The Nevada man, a resident of Washoe County, tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes the Covid-19 infection) in April. He recovered and subsequently tested negative twice. Forty-eight days later in June, he tested positive again, and further analysis revealed that the virus DNA was different between his two infections. This suggests he was reinfected by a mutated strain of the virus.

Given the potential devastation caused by Covid-19—and the worry that there will be a second coronavirus wave—everyone from experts to people on the street hoped that a Covid-19 infection would trigger antibodies that would protect people, ideally for an extended amount of time. Now that seems less likely.
"This news doesn't surprise me," says Sandra Kesh, MD, deputy medical director at Westmed Medical Group in Purchase, New York. "Covid would have been the first virus in history to not mutate, and we knew at the outset that this wasn't going to be the case,"

The tricky aspect of respiratory viruses like the novel coronavirus is that they tend to evolve quickly.

A tracker maintained by the Dutch news agency BNO News had recorded 24 cases globally as of Oct. 16. The first confirmed case, a 33-year-old man from Hong Kong, was reported in August. He’d tested positive in March with mild symptoms of Covid-19, the disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, and had two negative tests a few weeks later. Four and a half months after the first event, he tested positive again, although he had no symptoms. The only known person to have died from a case of reinfection was an 89-year-old Dutch woman, who was also undergoing chemotherapy treatment for a rare white blood cell cancer.
In other words, there is no reason that people who have already to been infected and recovered to wear a fucking mask.

Rand Paul is 100% correct.

And there is absolutely no justification to mandate masks or social distancing for people who already had COVID 19.

You dont have a clue how the human body reacts to viruses, do you?

The senator is correct. They have antibodies that will last 9 months (so far) and counting.. After that they develop what is called a T-cell memory and can react years later. Don't "poo poo" that you know science and then fuck it up that badly as it shows your pure ignorance on the subject.
Unless, of course, the strain mutates...and the antibodies are worthless.

Speaking of pure ignorance.
Even if it mutates the base virus will still cause an immune response in most people.

Our bodies can recognize like viruses... MORON>.
Pure conjecture on your part....stay at a Holiday Inn last night?
An immune response? Sure..technically. But would it rise to the level of immunity? Not enough evidence in, as of yet.

Not that I'm all into educating you..but viral studies..on other like chrono-virrii , such as the common cold--do not bear our your assertion. Every cold you catch is a different, yet similar, virus..and there is no difference in either severity or contagion rates.

I mask out of courtesy..having already had my dose of virus--but I'm aware that care should still be taken. This virus is very likely to be among us for years..just like the flu..mutating and requiring a yearly vaccine..just sayin'.

Besides..why not reassure people...even if it's just a placebo effect?

Uh...no? Did you not read the link? A small risk is still a risk--and there is no guarantee that the risk will remain small..as the virus continues to mutate into new strains.

And there's a small chance you'll get hit in the head with a meteorite too. That's no reason to wear a helmet.

Sen. Rand Paul is a distinguished surgeon, I think his opinion shouldn't be so quickly dismissed by political operatives who are controlled by the mask manufacturers in Red China.

I have the same issue with relatives of mine. Trump comes along and they abandon all sense of reason and sanity.
All in the name of Donald John Trump. A incompetent, narcissistic, fraud and failure of a businessman.
It's baffling.

mine too. i have 2 sisters & their families voted for trump for different reasons - & one of them is an evangelistical to boot. needless to say thanksgiving 2016 was just spectacular - & i can't believe they are all still getting together this year.

we will not. but it just gives me the sweet giggles of knowing that biden won & they are not happy.

when that asswipe got infected - he told no one- not any of his fellow senators & put them all at risk.

a competent doctor wouldn't do that.

Dr Fauci slapped Paul down not once, not twice, but three times in Congressional hearings this year. Hard.
I take nothing that hack has to say seriously. If I were his neighbor, I'd have done the same thing to him.
The guy is just like his father. A complete whack-a-doodle.
