Prosecutors Now Backing Away from Statements and Charges Against January 6th Protestors
March 24, 2021 | Sundance

Excerpt:

Interesting that Reuters would outline the walk-backs. Even more interesting that the details of the walk-backs seem to prove the DOJ never actually intended to win any of these cases, but rather wanted to advance a political narrative about extremists through their earlier statements.

The approach of building a political narrative through false accusations and over-charging in the DOJ is the essence of Lawfare. The government has endless taxpayer resources to fuel their political weaponization of the judiciary.

Gosh how surprising that is... NOT!

The D.O.J. was attempting to make mass arrests and hold a mass trial of individuals on vague charges of rioting or insurrection on no other evidence than that they were seen on mainstream media cameras near the Capitol on January 6. Many had been planning a peaceful demonstration to be held at that time and place, and those demonstrators who had no plans for violence, and did not partake in the violence, should not have been arrested for it.

And on the other hand, there was no effort to hold specific individuals responsible for specific crimes that actually did take place at the Capitol, such as the murder of Ashli Babbitt.

D.O.J. officials themselves should probably be charged with hindering prosecution or other obstuction of justice in cases like these. I have a lot of difficulty working up any sympathy for the family relationships and working careers of made men in the U.S. Department of Justice.
