Don't harsh my zen, Jen!
Rachel Canning, 'spoiled' New Jersey teen, goes home to parents - NY Daily News

The 18-year-old high school senior has finally reunited with her family. The Lincoln Park teen had tried suing her parents after they refused to put up with her wayward lifestyle. The Cannings are now asking for privacy.

"They're not athletes, they 're not actors. They didn't ask for any of this," Sarno said during a Wednesday press conference, according to the Daily Record. "Everyone should be happy today. This is a happy situation."

Parents Sean and Elizabeth Canning reportedly welcomed the prodigal daughter back with open arms. As far as the parents are concerned, "it's ancient history, it's done."

Time will tell, I guess.

Crazy situation this one... I have to wonder who told her she should sue her parents for something they are in no way obligated cover...

I must say though, the young lady is quite attractive. She looks like Julia Stiles...

Whoever was giving her advice should now get sued. Talk about ruining your life. "Weren't you that spoiled little girl who sued her parents?"

I wouldn't have let her move back home. She's an adult, it's time for her to act like one.

They are still dumb

I'll see your "they are still dumb" and raise you a Shelia Jackson Lee.

You've proven one thing, dumb has no age limit.

Sure enough.

My post was addressing the parents forgiving attitude, to a parent they are always our kids.

And that is your cue to start a message board thread about it.

There are a lot of people who say "kids are growing up faster these days."
Maybe some are - no observation is going to fit every youngster.
But IMHO there are a lot of youngsters who are not growing up nearly as fast as youngsters from my parents and grandparents generation.

At 18 a lot these "kids" were storming beaches in France and in the pacific.
A lot of the 18-year-olds today are stuck in video games and booze - just looking for the next party.

Obviously young people mature at different rates. But imho the millenials and gen Xers on the whole are not assuming responsibilities nearly as well as previous generations. They are exposed to a lot of things - at an earlier age - than previous generations, but that does not equal "growing up" imho.

The blame falls squarely on the parents.

While I wish this family the best. Rachel Canning isn't done yet. She's there for revenge.
