Your post got me thinking Harley what about only people who pay taxes/are retired/disabled voters. I think I’d back that restriction. “Only land owners” would leave out all renters, which satisfies a wide range of needs for a bucu load of people. Some people chose to rent instead of own for their own reasons. Tenants/renters shouldn’t be discriminated against. Now, with tent city residents, do they have the right to vote? Yes, if they pay taxes, or are physically disabled (although many pay taxes who can and do work) or show ID. Ah, the horror! Somebody calling for ID’s to show proof a voter is who they claim to be!

Why should paying taxes be a requirement? If laws and issues are going to effect you, you have the right to have a say. Income, which is what this amounts to, disenfranchised all those who's income falls below a taxable rate and essentially creates two distinct classes of citizens. The elite, who are allowed to vote and the rest, who are not yet sustained pay taxes on purchases, have children in schools, and must what the elite decides. They have skin in the game, you've just removed their voice.

I might not have been clear Coyote, but my main thought is there is nothing racist in supporting voter IDs. As I stated, a person who does not work and lives in a tent and does not pay taxes has the right to vote if they are a US citizen verified by an ID.

Federal control is large enough. I prefer it as it is, that states continue to regulate their own voting rights as they do with certain felons losing the right, but it’s most often on a temporary basis and depends on the state.

A vote is basically your say in who gets to spend the taxes collected by the government. If you don't pay anything in, you shouldn't get to vote.

The federal government's taxation power is, supposedly, limited to the general welfare. This means people aren't allowed to vote themselves free shit at the expense of others via government. But that's how we are using it and that's the problem.
