Re-Evaluating Newt..

The Republican establishment has started attacking Newt as a bomb thrower.

Which just goes to show that the Republican establishment is still out of touch with what regular people like. Not news. People on the right have been looking for someone to really be willing to come out swinging for a while now, and the Republican establishment keeps giving us milksops who shit their frillies at the very IDEA of criticizing a leftist for anything, lest they be thought "mean".

Some of Newt's harshest critics lately have been on Fox News and I'm getting a bit weary of that consistent drum beat. Okay, a lot of Republican leaders think Newt is a 'terrible leader' and he isn't 'quite up to the job' etc. etc. etc. But I think Fox is going overboard to emphasize that and, should Newt win the nomination, they are literally shooting in the foot our chances to beat Obama in the 2012 election. Newt certainly may not be the best of the best the GOP has to offer, but whatever his shortcomings, he is head and shoulders above anything Obama has ever been, is, or is likely to be so far as being a patriot, a proud American, and knowing how to stimulate an economy. If Newt failed at being president he likely would put the final nail in the GOP coffin, but even then he would in no way do the harm to America and Americans that Obama has done.

I think FOX is part of the GOP establishment that has been trying it's very best to foist Mitt Romney on a very unwilling GOP electorate.

Let's not forget, FOX is paying Mike Huckabee millions of dollars to do a show no one apparently watches just to keep him out of the GOP race. They are paying Sarah Palin a lot of money as well.

I just wondered if Democrats were embarrassed by these repeated vicious media attacks on Newt...?

What are you talking about?

I can't believe you just admitted this is what you think Fox is up to.

Not that part. That Rupert and Roger are actually so deeply involved in manipulating the American public that they are willing to offer massive bribes to keep people from running.

Obama has consistently pushed an agenda that only a Marxist/socialist could love.

When he had a super majority in Congress, he pushed through healthcare legislation that only the Marxist/socialists among us love and just about nobody else, and that has already become a huge drag on the economy.

He has promoted legislation and opposed spending and failed to lead in any way on the overall economy so that he has added mega trillions to the national debt for as far as the eye can see.

During that same period when he had a super majority or near to it in Congress, he pushed through appropriations bills that violated everything he promised when campaigning, pushed through a stimulus package that has most likely lost far more jobs than any temporary jobs it created and did NONE of what he promised when it was passed, and has since failed to initiate or support a single piece of legislation that in any way had a chance to get the economy on track. He has blocked numerous proposed legislation that could have helped get the economy back on track.

He has had the most dismal foreign policy and the most embarrassing execution of foreign policy of ANY president in my memory.

And he continues to threaten the American people with more initatives and policy that moves us every further and faster toward socialism and that is further hampering any trust or confidence in government policy that would help us start digging out of this economic mess we are in.

I don't believe Newt would have been guilty of ANY of that and won't be if he should be the GOP nominee and is elected.

In my opinion, only the most politically and socially naive, ignorant, stupid, or stubborn can continue to support Barack Obama's policies given the track record that he has demonstrated so far.

You asked.

And the Repubican Blue Bloods seem to be pushing Romney...but are getting frustrated since Newt is gaining enormous strength in polling as Romney continues to sink...they're also frustrated the the Public is doing what they want to do and not being bullied as they were when we were given Juan McCain...

Go Figure...

The legislation is very like the legislation proposed by the Heritage Foundation, during the 90s.

Are you calling the Heritage Foundation a bunch of Marxists?
He has promoted legislation and opposed spending and failed to lead in any way on the overall economy so that he has added mega trillions to the national debt for as far as the eye can see.

He has a centrist economic policy. Larry Summers is not a Marxist. Under Obama, our economy is better than when Obama took office.

Bush started two wars while cutting taxes, and got Medicare Part D passed. These moves added tremendously to the deficit.

What are you talking about? What violated promises?

Economists generally agree that the stimulus saved jobs.

He has consistently proposed legislation that would get us back on track. The Pubs blocked all of it.

He has had the most dismal foreign policy and the most embarrassing execution of foreign policy of ANY president in my memory.

He's been very successful in foreign policy. Again, what are you talking about?

And he continues to threaten the American people with more initatives and policy that moves us every further and faster toward socialism and that is further hampering any trust or confidence in government policy that would help us start digging out of this economic mess we are in.

What you call socialism is something that most people like.

I don't believe Newt would have been guilty of ANY of that and won't be if he should be the GOP nominee and is elected.

Newt is a nut.

You are misinformed and started out with terminal bias.

The GOP has circled the wagons to protect the chosen one--Mitt Romney another John McCain type candidate. GOP establishment endorsements are flying in from everywhere. A key endorsement came from Nikki Haley--governor of South Carolina--considered a tea party conservative--yet if you read the article in the S. Carolina paper--it appears that Mitt Romney donated thousands of dollars to her campaign and endorsed her--so she is returning the favor. Romney has been running for POTUS since he was defeated by John McCain in 2008 -- and has made tons of endorsements to political candidates and has donated thousands to their campaigns.

Haley chooses to back Romney | The Post and Courier, Charleston SC - News, Sports, Entertainment

We'll see-- but the long and short knives of the GOP establishment are out to protect the chosen one, Mitt Romney--and Newt Gingrich has got one hell of a fight on his hands.

I'm hoping that Newt can pull this off. It will make it that much easier for Obama to get re-elected.

Considering the stunning demographics in South Carolina yesterday--EVERY category including evangelicals, women, family values people, Tea Partiers, financial priority people, independents, and other preferred him over any other and collectively gave him a 51% electability rating, I'm not at all sure that Obama benefits from a Newt nomination. Take Romney, Santorum, and Paul out of that equation and that 51% electability no doubt goes way up.

If we see similar results in Florida coming up next, it could get really interesting
