I can think of a couple of ways to resolve this, one legal, one not so legal. The legal option, hire a PI to watch the house and the first time the squatter leaves, call a locksmith and change the locks, then have him arrested when he breaks into the house because his keys don't work. That's a clear case of breaking and entering. The not so legal way would to have someone else set a small fire to force the squatter to leave the house, then DON'T turn it over to your insurance, pay to fix it yourself. If you turn it over to the insurance it could be arson for insurance fraud. As far as I know there is no law against damaging your own property, Another way would be to simply sue the squatter for rescission of contract and get your money back.

The article says that "dozens" of scumballs did it. A nation of 325 million is unlikely to fall because of 100 such cases.

What's questionable is how did the seller get the money so quickly? He should not have received the money until he was out of the house. Ontario laws says that you have to be OUT of the house, BEFORE you get your money. I've had people tryin to pull that bullshit on me and you don't get my money until you're OUT.

This isn't a liber/conservative problem. This is bad lawyering on closing.

No, this is the progressive desire to gun after anyone who owns property. Bad laws overprotect tenants and make landlords "the bad guy". Overbroad COVID eviction laws make things like this possible, not closing law. Closing law being done wrong doesn't prevent a person from taking on the property they now have the title to, anti-landlord laws and COVID restrictions do that.

There are ways of making them leave voluntarily.

Just because you cannot evict them doesn't mean that you cannot move in.

You charge huge rent & storage fees. Also place storage leans on all vehicles on your property & tow them away, get them titled in your name! Sue them for rent, late fees, violation of contracts, etc. I might also just move in & make their life hell & have them charged with destruction of property & assault when they come at you. Take ownership of all their possessions abandoned on your property.

California is tarded man. You should see my neighbors, all three transplants. Wholly cow the things they bring with them, even the "conservatives" leave me scratching my head. Self-absorbed is the common theme. Two of three homes are very needy, and they're the sane ones. The other has services calling seems daily (for years), nothing is ever nice enough while they have awful taste & they're "above" doing tasks themselves.

Don't let a Californian talk to you about "leaving footprints", because by all accounts they're probably the worst offenders.
