Major League Baseball's record books are set to be rewritten as the sport formally incorporates statistics from the racially segregated Negro Leagues of 1920-1948 into its official history, reports said on Tuesday.

Fame catcher Josh Gibson will now have their names etched into baseball's official pantheon alongside the likes of iconic figures such as Babe Ruth, Willie Mays and Hank Aaron.

At a stroke, Gibson will become baseball's all-time leader in batting average, his career average of .372 eclipsing Ty Cobb's record of .366 -- a hitherto untouchable record which has stood since Cobb's retirement in 1928.

Gibson now replacing the racist Ty Cobbs record is priceless.

ty cobb wasnt a racist.....he said he did not care if minorities played....cap anson is the one who prevented it from happening in the late 1800's...

you do realize those guys only played like 50-60 games a year and that josh gibson only played 602 games compared to cobbs 3034 games,right?....
Oh, but MLB took into account all the pickup and barnstorming games where extremely accurate statistics were kept....
What a frickin joke.

it was during the 30's their figures for the amount of games they played were within what was happening in MLB at the time for the same amount of games........there was nothing outlandish....
But who kept them? Hits and errors are very subjective, depending on who is keeping track of the stats.
There can't have been any proven consistency and to incorporate these stats into MLB stats is laughable.
And woke.

so what, the Baseball Reference guide lets you know where and when they played and who they played for....and in spite of what skewy says when you look at the guide you can see how many games they played....and any baseball fan will say 3,000 games trumps 600 games....for the top number.....

they say the stats they use are from their league which played x amount of games like mlb does.....they claim they did not include barnstorming games because there was to many to keep tract of...but the league played their games and were done and there was the stats for that season....nothing unbelievable some good players some not so good....

Of course that is correct. My point furthers the argument that this is all wokeness magnified.

Fine...but where is the consistency in the keeping of the statistics? Who kept the stats for the Negro League games as opposed to the MLB games?
